ColumBUS ·

what? no whale tail accessory?

bugeyedbabe ·

only a matter of time i'm sure

ColumBUS ·

they wouldnt make the same mistake twice would they?

bugeyedbabe ·

course they would...

ColumBUS ·

some people put whale tails on the most beautiful cars... i mean they make a mean sandwich table, but aesthetic value drops pretty badly

bugeyedbabe ·

don't say that foxy - i know she's in a carrera kit...

i think she's grabbing one of starbug

ColumBUS ·

yeah i dont mind the flared guards, and the running boards are awesome...
but it has to be done right, i think a whale is ok on a cabriotlet, and even better if the windscreen/bar is chopped a few inches.

bugeyedbabe ·

i think u kinda gotta go the whole hog for the rite effect...

even take the kit further and add and chop inlets into the scopes..

but just to add a whales tail doesn't seem rite

just my opinion

ColumBUS ·

too right there.

so, having dropped hsc maths and economics in favour for sleep, whats the moneys involved for a new old beetle in aussie dollars?

bugeyedbabe ·

i average it out to mulitply by 3 i think..and then add about $5ausk for the shipping

do $9K x 3 + 5 = $35K

not so much the poor ppls car now is it....

baybuscamperkid ·

Um, they are mexican built. hasnt mexico stopped building?

killakornkobb ·

yeah, year before last wasnt it? november somtime??

i'd say it's an old website.. i remember reading in a VWMA about one being brought here from the mexican factory

bugeyedbabe ·

see now i thought that, but site is a uk site...and it offers teh ppl to go to there for a viewin...and then it talk about how it's location makes it convenient to ship their cars all over the world from their uk home...

and it notes uk cars as 'local built' and talks about exporting for other cars...

which is what made me think it is a uk group, not the mexican ones...

just a thought

bugeyedbabe ·

but i guess it does say importers and sitributors...so perhaps

bugeyedbabe ·

based in east anglia..is that mexico?? sorry i failed geography

Starbug ·

only someone who has experienced the convenience of a whale tail can appreciate how handy they come when having road-side picnics, somewhere to put your polishing cloth on/an extra ledge to hang out your washing, or somewhere to put a six-pack when you are having a BBQ.

but i do agree, if you are going to go the tail, you need to make the rest match!

hmmmm.. a new old beetle for $35K
i think id rather have the golf thanks :P

bugeyedbabe ·

aww come one ppl...

okay for that i'd at least expect tohave some air con....

Chewy ·

There was a 99 model at the melbourne day of the volks I think??
look aight

bugeyedbabe ·

owned by someone here ??

r we that lucky...i'd love to see oen in the flesh...

r they from mexico or england...anyone know for sure

ColumBUS ·

their so expensive because their not mass produced anymore, mexico stopped mass producing in 2002

bugeyedbabe ·

kikko ur double up everywhere...and ur chasing me again....i can tell...

bugeyedbabe ·

ur just trying to mod the day aren't u...

i can see thru ur devious plans

ColumBUS ·

hahah i got nothing else better to do...
please let me win, pleease?

ColumBUS ·

am i that transparent bugeyed?

baybuscamperkid ·

"The Beetle is produced by VW Mexico. It is powered by an impressive 1600 Multi-point injection engine with a three way catalytic converter to bring the Beetle right up to date."

quote from the website. first paragraph when you click on car.

adnesiac ·

A guy in the Victorian club has a blue one, I think that it was one of the last of the production line. He has it at a number of VW shows
