I wanted to ask for some help in locating a source for paint colour chip sample images. It looks like Australian cars sometimes used different colours then were used in the Northern Latitudes.
I am currently looking for the appropriate colour chips for Antarctica White and Moss Green.
Thanks,
Dennis

Hey Dennis, Just added my Ghia in.
Have you thought of adding a field for a link into the form so people can submit sites with more pics and stuff about their cars?
Mick.

I think its because of me 🙂
I said I had a moss green square and the colours just don't seem to be right from teh charts that Dennis has found. I know its a Dulux colour....... but apart from that??? :duh
he he, got to love his avatar 😉
hi dennis, :P, I am Chris....

I have a good source for scans of the paint chips for the cars up North. But I do not have any scans for paint chips for the cars in Australia. The paint chip sample shown on my site are from actual paint chip charts and pages used by the auto paint industry.
I found a listing of colours, but no chip samples on the Club VeeDub Sydney site.
I believe that some of what may have gone on was using different names for the same colours. Having a reference to scans of the chip samples would be a really great help.
Thanks again,
Dennis
(I currently trying to find color matches for 2 cars, Chris' Moss Green, and another Antarctica White. I also plan on adding a T34 image to my avatar, even though it will be a squeeze for space and image quality.)

i'm waiting for my 2 notches to arrive.. then adding the two squares and the 2 notches..

So do you want scans or the formulars ???
penguin ·
If you've got the scans Dave that'd be great, I daresay formulas would be .
What Dennis currently uses for reference is a web site that has scans of colour charts (like the wall paint type) for each manufacturer and year. I have forgotten its name, I have it at home on my computer where I have been trying to figure out what our Australian Moss green is similar to from the overseas colours.

I am working with image files supplied by AutoColorLibrary.
As Chris said, all that I am looking for is the scans of the paint chip samples, along with the name and code of the colour. Additionally, the scans would have to be high resolution scans.
Thanks again for the responses.

Thanks Empi,
The first site (which also contained the second site) had some nice stuff. I will pick through it and see what I can find. I will try to find those sites that might have some of the chips and colours specific to Australia.
Thanks for the assist,
Dennis

I would like to thank Dave Birchall for sharing a scan of the Antarctica White colour chip and formula. I have added it to the list of colours to select from.
When you submit your cars for the Registry, if you know what the name of your colour is, and especially if you can locate the paint identification tag/label on the car for the paint code, please let me know and I will make every effort to find the right colour to include in the paint chart.
Thanks again,
Dennis

Ive scaned the both colours but there huge files n i have them on my putor at work which dosent have a burner....
Carnt remember how to ZIP.... n there too big to email u nust have got the smaller file, maybe i will try again and a lower resolution.

Hi Dave,
Yes, the Antarctica White file was a LARGE file. I appreciate the high resolution, but it could be a bit lower and still work for my purposes. Additonally, you could convert the high resolution TIFF image to a JPG, and it would shrink the file size significantly, but still retain sufficient image quality and work for my purposes.
Thanks again,
Dennis

if you are willing to scan yourself, i know my local paint shop in Croydon has all the paint chips from dulux and so forth dating back at least to the late 60's, so you may be able to get a copy of theirs or a paint shop near you might have the same stuff.
