Was there much involved? I'm just curious. :vader

Read the previous posts where people have been led up the garden path and ended up with extra costs.

Damn Roy, you dont even know what he wants to import.....

If its a complete car, find a good import broker and take it from there. ask as many ? about what other charges may be payable. If its parts, be ready to pay 15% duty and then 10% gst on total cost (including shipping and duty). Having said that, with low figure purchases you shouldnt have to worry too much.

Hope this helps, Nectar.

Yeah, just be wise about it and know what the costs are...

1. Item Cost (make sure you convert the $$ www.xe.com is a great $ converter.
2. Shipping Costs and type (e.g surface is cheap but long wait.. airfreight is exxy but much quicker)
3. Tax or any customs costs (there are different tax rates but most don't go above %15.. sometimes you are not taxed.. bonus)

If you know these 3 things you can save a crapload.. There will be many people on here that have invested interest in their own companies. All places you buy from whether here or overseas are running a business.. smart companys know that customer service is very important.. they don't lead you down the garden path unless they are an unreputable business. If you are not sure on the shipping charges then send the company an email with your order details and address details.....

Then again... most people like to buy from local companys.. for many reasons.. I use local and overseas business.

Shop around, again be smart about it.

There are honest people out there to deal with. Unity-28 and I have dealt several times and he doesnt seem dissapointed. As a matter of fact, I got a package from him today. Just ask lots of questions, and go with someone you know. If your buddy deals with someone in the state, try to use the same guy.

ive spent a bit OS and a lot here in Aus. If i can get it here at a reasonable price i will, however, as im not a rich fat bastard i shop around...Cip1 in the US has looked after me, will continue to shop there, also will shop here in Aus, but some places even in Aus are hard to get exact prices out of...

Never imported a car, but am considering...

Im glad it got there quickly for ya....

I have bought a number of things from the US and never had a problem except one, that was off the samba, and the cockhead never sent the item, but 1 out of however many I have bought isnt bad. I actually just got back from the PO after sending a Money Order for someone off the samba. The way I look at it, if its ment to be, It will be. I know for a fact that the item I bought, would be at least $300 extra If I was to buy it locally, even after shipping. Im not saying that we shouldnt buy locally, but if you can save a little, why not....
