Hi Jo,
there were many different jacks used by VW...
Some were made by Bilstein....
Many have probably been thrown away... as there was one for every car.... thats a lot of jacks...
You can usually pick them up at Swap Meets etc... very cheaply...
The one in Your Beetle Jo, is one of the heavy duty type...
they work very well... and I've never seen one slip down...

VW Jacks are NOT used or liked in the UK and other Countries where chemicals are used on icey roads as the chemicals eat the jack mountings away...
So they are considered Dangerous in these countries...
Its Good practice to chock one rear wheel when jacking up the opposite side....

yeah, i have a few, damn good things too. if you ever get told that they are dangerous, i was taking a look in the boot of a friends 95 Merc convertible the other day and guess what? the genuine 90's mercedes jack is almost identical to our VW ones!

Cool, I am just discovering all these things in the bug! Things that I never had on my other bug because it was all stripped and really dodgy.
