okay...gonna do it again, because someone asked me too nicely...and cause i love them

I have two babies rite now (other than my humans/alien ones)

The first it Edith.

I bought Edith from mountainbug, and she is going to be used as my daily driver. She is very much the chicks car..Hippy and Happy.. She is currently being cared for by Mountainbug, ubtil Crazy George can pick her up for me...thank u John....thank u George.

She is a 70 standard, but really, she looks kinda special to me

And as with all ladies, Edith feels the photos make her butt look larger than it really is, and has has me not to show any one those..

I noticed shes has a few bruiser here and there, but nothing a bit of makeup can't fix. Thought is to have gekko painted on her drivers rear fender... as well as a frog on her right (sorry kikko, just make sure ur talking to me and not the girls in the passengers side 😉)

My daughter has already convinced me to buy crytals and smlly stuff for her...and she wants butterfly seat cover... I also have a silver love sybol, but would like a peace one to...to put on her glovebox..

What I really want though...is the picture of the look on ppls faces crazy george passes, and his mate riding shot gun...and the 'flutterbug on the back'... lol...gunna be a sight :duh

The other car I have is Elton.

He is a 71 super. At first I was just going to clean him up (inside and out) and use him, but every time I sat in him, it was like he was sscreaming for more...A costume change.

So now, he will be getting a full resto...

But I do know there will be mods made...like dvd player, good stereo system, sunroof darkened even more...

I am still not sure of what color scheme he will be getting. I am currently leaning toward blue and with silver flames (hood and all fenders)...but that is likely to change...it has 5 times so far..lol...I guess he's more like the real Elton than I thought...

and for those wondering why he's called Elton, well...
When I went to take him for a test drive...he bunny hopped all the way..really bad..so his 'master' got in, and drove him real hard, and he responded really well...And then later, when asking about hs name...well they told me the wife thought it was a female, and called it herbie...the husband didn't agree...

So for the following reasons I called it Elton
Short, wide bodied little bugger
Sexual identification prolems
Prefers to be driven hard by a male, then gently by a female.
Screaming for his costume change.

There u go, theres the story of my babies....

Donna they look absolutely great. I love the paint on Edith.

Watch that after-market sunroof on Elton - they are prone to leaking very badly. May be a good idea to try and hunt a real one or weld in a new roof section. Just a thought anyway - wouldn't like Elton to have his costume all done, for it to get wet for the big show.

I'm thinking for my first trip, i'll bring edith, the second will be with elton..

edith and bel will draw alot of attention i think...only surpassed by their owners...

NATS next year, its a date....starting the slush fund as we talk...

When will Eltons costume change start...is he fussing over how he wants to look yet...

everyday i have to consult with him about colors etc...i sit and stare and sit and stare, and discuss it with him...have a cup of tea, and think some more

i think we've agreed on sparkly blue with silver flames...lots of shiny chrome, including a chrome engine pack, and some blue stock wheels with chrome rings and hubcaps...

Inside will be white blue and black i think....maybe wood highlights...just not sure...(this si the part that he and I argue over...he wants white seats, i explain its impractical...he wont listen (stubborn arsed car!)

Add neon lights under the seats/dash....

he's also screaming dvd player for th back, and new total black sunroof ...

well thats this week....

next week he'll want to be purple background and yellow bubbles on his arse...

talk about tantrums and tiaras...I'm thinking of having big fat fake sparkly glasses made for his NATS debut, so damn temper-mental(and that is NOT a spelling mistake!)

but i love him none the less....I also promised him a big speaker set up which lites up blue when u want it too....so he can really belt out his greatest hits to neighbouring cars, and make their ears bleed too.

He wants to have some blue lite up skulls as well, for his door and gear stick...as well as bone hands on his engine lid..so ppl wont piss him off by trying to touch him without his permission....

Maybe i should tow him to nats - he's a big bad trailer queen to a "T"

bugs if im gettin in that car, theres no way im sitting in the passenger seat.

Edith has arrived here on the doorstep, and she is lovely..

my daughter is already downstairs with her brother decking edith out in her finery...

mechanical extras out, seat covers on, butterflies on the dash, crystals and peace sign from her mirror...

i really should mention to them the spiders webs....but maybe later...

anyway, tomorrow she'll get another bath...touch up on her pics....and then to work on her guards etc.....make them nice and round...

and what pics then...not sure really...

my daughter has been busy with geekos and tulips as well as frangipanis (my mirros are covered....not to mentiont he beach scene in my bathroom....are, to have artistic children and a mother who lets them run free (within reason..get away from my papers & canvas...)

anyway...she's here so the kids and I are soooo happyyy

And tonite i got to meet crazy george...who really is a crazy george...which he admits too....think a cross between crazy jon and big kev (as in I'm excited!) and u get the love child...crazy george!

I don't think the two days without sleep helped his sanity...but somehow, i suspect, it didn't make much difference either....BTW george...u do not practise safe driving skills thru a game...no, not ever...especially not midtown madness...lol...

He (crazy george) on the other hand will tell u all I am a totally sane woman, feet firmly on the ground, and in love with VWs...He can also testify that I have a child 17yo (dan), and that I am in fact 35yo...(for those that doubt)...he was still doing the sums as he left...hehe

k, am back from a small shopping trip.....

went to crazy george', and he has the best dogs man. They were better behaved than my kids. I wanted to swap, but he wouldn't be in it...I think his refusal came rite after AJ decided to roll in the dog poo areas...eww...but thankfully, he missed all the dog poo

And besides 2nite daddy had to wash him...hahaha....(where the gerni??)

I then went onto to meet 11cab and his family. Absolutely lovely ppl. they have baja kombi, baja bug and buggy....i was hoping he'd turn his head long enuf for me to steal it....but nah...not 2nite....

had frutiful day all in all.

best part was when george told my daughter his ladder was safe as...then he almost fell...hehe.

oh well....will go back when more on my lists for edith or elton.

anyway...i bought a passanger running board (AJ jumped on last, and it died from that!) and interior lite. Almost everything else that I need I can get of donor car....yeah har.

Also bought some seats off 11cab for $20.00...in better condition than ones I have...so looking good..

Eltons stuff is just getting stockpiled until I have almost all of it, then re-assembly will begin...

I know jenz...elton is feeling a bit neglected...so now when i get something for edith, i make sure he has something too...thus his new seats... ( I now also have 'little things' for him too.

But u should see the edith now...i doubt mountainbugs clan will know her when we're finished. But she seems to be happy with it. She has furry stuff around her back window...and blue furry stuff on her parcel tray...grey furry seats....will post pics once totally finished, which should be in a wekk or two...( I want to touch up her paintings at the moment, and fix the fenders as well...)

Big A is now hell bent on fixing elton, so he has something to drive...so there is another nutter in love with vws.... 😀

I told him he would be bitten by the vw bug, but he didn't believe me...but now he is super enthusiastic abotu elton being the long distance cruiser....and more manly too. :thumb

He reckons he's gonna make sure elton is the 'show car'

So I think I lost elton to the big man..hehe...but after that, I want either 73 kombi, or 73bug....has to have rite feel to it of course, and will make it into a 'Gene' - as in gene Simmons and color scheme will be based on KISS theme...black red, lots of chrome and silver (inside and out)

But will wait until after Elton is done, I dont want to be doing too many things at once..

So it looks like a man who would never consider owning a second hand car (never had one in his entire life) is now in love with VWs....yeahhhh team!!

On other hand, mite just be a ploy to get full tool kit...including welders etc....and to do all the courses..welding, painting etc....but really, who cares?? If he's working on the vws, why would anyone care about the motive...so long as good job is done!

Hey mountain bug.

Let Anna knwo that Edith is being well cared for. She is getting body work done this weekend. And she's going girly princess.

Her butterfly on the front is now in bright pink...and her fenders are going to get a dragon fly, butterfly, sunflower and lady beetle. The sun also has a smile on it.

Will eventually upload some pics....so u & Anna can see how she is doing. I have also kept her name on inside of door....(will be cleared acrylic on the top to ensure it stays...) But I also plan to go over the car scrubbing, cleaning, polishing (and painting clear of the body art)

My youngest daughter now has dibs on Edith as her first car....and shes only 12....

BT is it possible to remove the paint on the wheels and polish it all up do u think?? I plan to fully polish the silver sections on the wheels (dremels here i come) but noticed red sections paint has chipped.

And yeah, i know it will take me a while to do it all...but then she will look lovely for her outtings.

So it looks like the deal worked all round....

Tell Anna I hope she enjoys her trip away. She gets the memories of south Africa, I get the car from germany...hehe...certainly worked for me.

On the weekend I enlisted the help of big a...in exchange for a dinner he had to cook for us all..hehe

So now the following hs now been done..

panel beating the fenders
Blue butterfly to pink
pink parcel tray
white furry window trims.
butterflies on her dash
daughter put 'pretty' stickers everywhere.
door trims done....(grey white and PINK..lol)
doors fixed all round
fish oiled inside of those same doors..
engine is now tuned as well...

Biggest problem was some crazy lady that Big A is friends with.....well darned woman keep sending sms...and distracting him for his chores...hehe...good thing I like her eh!

My trip was good.... I marked places I want to see when free to explore.....was the little sister again ...being told what to do n what not to do...argh

i was using hot glue gun on weekend...i now have blister on side of thumb where i burned myself...

...OK nearest thing to gunky stuff I can find for around wheels is brake paste...it stops them squeaking....but can that get messy on your mags...and would it go like silastic type stuff ??? You clean it with off metho or clean hydraulic brake fluid...

Universal grease is used on nuts n thingies around that area...

Maybe someone just got messy around Edith's mags at one time with silastic...hey guys any clues...

thinking ice to harden and peel it off...but any other ideas are welcome...

what a cool courier i had today...

today we had some big parcels arrrive, and they had to be put downstairs...

well, when done, the courier starts to chat with me about my vws....He's telling me all about his friends on way back when....and saying how it got them everywhere. He also spoke of hitlers revenge (I set him str8 4 ya dave (kombi 57)) I also gave him a bit of history also...

he said he loved i, he never knew how they came about...and he had loved them so much...and was wondering story of mine....

I told him edith was becoming the daily driver, and Elton the trailer queen. He then asked a bit more about do we get many packages delivered, cause he'd like to check the progress of the cars...

I told him he could stop buy anytime to see them....just knock on door...

I said things r going slow, but hopefully in a month Edith will be finished, and Elton started...

He said great.

I also listed a couple of sites for him to check out....this one included....

So hopefully, we will have another joining our forum, and renewing his love of the VW.

ok, went shopping for soem more bits and pieces for edith yesterday...

got some PINK mouldable carpet....yes pink

I went looking for green, and they didnt have much...was telling the ladies about edith...and then she showed us some thing a little different...

they had pale purple, brite blue, or pale pink....really cheap too...i got 2meters by 2.7 for $49...only because it was an offcut...

I have enuf for whole interior...and we're checking to c if we have enuf boot too...

i also have scratch guards for her back fenders, and under the door handles...

i have also scored a lock for the engine bay....

so edith is coming along slowly, but at least we are making some progress....

and yes, she is rather 'girly'...

i still have a little way to go...i need to put a log under the geeko....and bring blend the themes on each panel...flower and leaves floating down boths side ...then coat upon coat of clear...

then its on to the mechanics...and wheels...

After much complaining about lack of pressies (and threatening to cancel every one elses pressies for this year) Big A has stated that he will pay for ALL the costs to get edith to the road, as late pressie from him and the kids (I think he really wants the welder for fathers day)

so...working on list of all things to be done...doing little things this week...mechanics hopefully next, then rego when their done!

so, with a bit of effort, alot of luck, and the vw gods on my side....edith will be on the road within 2 to 3 weeks...yeahhhhhhhh

im so exicted.....i can hardly wait....

so...list goes something like this...
replace seat belts
finish wiring stereo
finish off carpets
tar under guards
tar under car too i think...
finish last bits of painting (for pics
polish off car...(except roof which will get redone after rego)
put running boards back on
clean wheels

take to mechanics
new brakes all round
tune up
rwc

straight to main roads then...

then...shes ready to rumble!!!!

funny thing is, my mum said when shhes wondering what ive bin doing all week, shes sure her friends will tell her...edith cant be missed (even byt he blind im sure) and while they live all over town, they go to same church/gatherings, ad she sure to hear it all there....hehe....and she's right!

and u can bet the following about edith too:
1. she will be much loved by my family
2. i wont stop smiling
3. people will prolly laugh & smile when they see her, and honestly, whether they laugh or smile...its gotta make the world a better place hey!

Edith is gorgeous!!! Where do you get the mouldable carpet from?? The carpet in the Tinkerbeetle is actually new, but Purple carpet would be sooo nice lol!

Ms Cab...Elton will be fine...trust me...i have alot of 'manly' things going on him...at one point i changed my mind on colors (matt black with copper metals in the flames) but changed my mind...(thats going to be on another project)...so elton is back to the blue and silver....also means he can have alot of bling bling and some very kewl peices i've found along the way (neone seen a nice set of skeleton hands hanging from the doors.....like the person got dragged ...)

for edith...a friend is thinking of making me a rather nice ariel accessory, unique to me...if possible.....its a butterfly made from wire, with beads and jewels threaded onto it.....so it sparkles really pretty....and it clips on and off at night ....how nice is he!...but he's not sure it can be done....so we will just have to see...lol

hipi, i grabbed it from a small speciality shop round the corner...its supposed to be about $40/meter, but they had remanants which turned out to be the perfect size to do floor and boot for $50.00 (2.5 x 2.5)...now get this...i saw the pink, blue and green at bunnings....not sure if they had the purple (and i searched after i saw they had blue, but ur local one may have it) If u cant find it, and u'd really like it....let me know...and i will ask local store more details about it, such as brand etc...

ok, i feel like its taken forever...btu guess what...

All that I can do for edith is done.

Which means she's now to go to mechanics, and then shes on the road.

Im so excited I could cry.

She needs brakes to be done...well adjusted...and i wont do that. Plus I want them to give her full tune up, and new filter...she has the oil bath from what i can tell, and its crap. really affecting her performance.

As we go along, she will change. but mostly it is done.
Things on the list are:
She has a 009 dizzy, and depending on whether we notice flat point or not, that may also be replaced.
New pics and tattoos (she copped a few extra scratches in the move)
Alot of clear coats when it is finally sunny again (we've had weeks of rain, so she's missed out on that..and yes, it will be done remotely properly.)
Sort out the bumper situation...she has ones that are ok for now, but really have something else in mind for her.
Oh and yes, of course...get her lots of shiny shit along the way....she loves bling bling (as most girls do)

Elton, who has waited quietly while i fixed up edith, and now biting at the bit for his restoration, but he's been told it will come with time, and take even longer than ediths...like about 3 years long. Not so much because of parts, but prep work.

Edith was rough, eltons will be complete opposite. And every part and thing doen on elton will be photographed...

And yes, the purists will cringe, but then, they just have to remember, its a super, and not worth worrying about (although I love them)

but back to the good news...

And I've been told mechanic (on Friday) should have her in by next week....and completed by end of second...woohoooooo!! I'll let u all know how i go with things...

call from mechanic...car is good body wise (so it should be, thats all Big A & I could do damn it...if i could do mroe than basic mechanics, that'd be good too)

But list for work to be done:
New bonnet cable needed (old one died over there..doh!!) so will be replaced with an 'under dash one'
Pedal cluster is 'sticking' in a big way, so will be pulled out, freed up and replaced.
front brakes to be done
back brakes to be done
front wheel bearing to be done
exhaust is leaking at heater boxes...to be done
And driver door handle needs to be fixed as well.

Also, he mentioned after the rwc is done, to bring in back so they can do the front gearbox mount....apparently is has the wrong type. (Like what the?) He said some one has replaced it, but replaced it with a thin metal one. This si not necessary for the RWC. But it needs to be addressed.

And bonus time:
Someone put an paper core air filter on the car. This was to replace the old oil bath filter. But, then someone (prolly a different person) went and put oil into the new filter, which meant that the oil was soaked up into the paper filter, and this meant nothng else could get through. he said it is likely the person who put it in is not same person who put oil in it. I'm thinking ...what the??

This unit is to be replaced too.

so yeah...i'm now back to praying i get my car back this month...please vw gods let me get my car back soon.

best part was: watching ppl staring at the car when we drove past in the tow truck. I dont think i've seen so many drivers smile/laugh in a long time. And I know Edith made the towie laugh all the way. he said she made his weekend. he also asked if he's driving past, and Edith is out, can he stop and show his kid. pmsl.

other comments were like this:

Did u see that car nearly hit us...they were too busy checking ur car out.
That car liked urs...almost ran up its butt three times.

She should hopefully have most of the work done by (at worst) next week. They will push to have it done tomorrow, but cant be sure.

So we will see. I cant wait till she's back. I'm praying its tomorrow.

and so the saga of problems continue:
Call from mechanics following full service and we now need to have following also done
Back axel seals replaced
wipers arent self stopping, and its a problem with the motor
Oil pouring out of engine, indicating rear main seal. They will check it all out when engine is pulled out, to also see if they can see any cracks in the head (lets pray there arent)
crack in carbies which means petrol is pouring in and making it run too rich. So new second hand carbies is needed. They located one.

Bill so far : $2050 approx. add rego to that...

He did stated that once all this is done, he hopes to not see me for anything more than accessories and services. And they are still hoping to have her out of the work shop this week.

Me too...for both areas.

And if she does get out soon, and because she cost so much...she will be driven to every meet, every drive in night and every bloody where i can make the pricess go. Forget this thing about hiding her in a garage.

Holy moly, that is some list that needs fixin! I am sure after all that work she will run sweet and give you loads of smile-filled miles when it is all done. The repair bill certainly is going to hurt by the sounds of it, hopefully you don't see any "muffler bearing" replacement fees on the invoice :blush

I trust the work will be done really well and am just joking about the muffler bearing!

they mechanics im using are leons vw repair shop, so I feel ok that the work will be done really well.

And yes, the guy at the shop said by the end of this exercise they hope to not see me for anything more than a service every now and then.. I'm hoping its because they expect the car is fixed really well, and not because she looks too girly!

Anyway, they are pushing to have her fixed by this weekend (I hope so) and if they do...well I'll be driving her everywhere....just because i can

And fingers crossed that the heads on the engine arent cracked, because that was their other concern with the oil leaking.

I hate the fact shes been off the road so long...and before she got here she was sitting in a driveway for about 6 months (if i recall correctly)

I hope shes in perfect condition when she comes home, cause lord knows shes getting driven everywhere.

The guys at the shop knows she not only has essentials done, but everything necessary to make her safe. I explained that two kids are riding in her, and youngest is at back on top of battery tray area...so we want no fires.

they measures every one has gone to keep the kdis safe is extreme.

Safety precautions (care of bubbys dad) so far:
battery box, wedges of rubber on bottom and side to stop it moving inside..
Thicker rubber mat over the battery box, so springs cannot penetrate box.
two fire extinguishers
one fire blanket

(I was actually surprised bubs dad didnt put extinguisher on back fender!)

Then it went to the shop, and their just as picky too!
fuel lines moved.
brakes checked..twice apparently
engine/engine bay area is to be fully cleaned of all old oil

This is all probably standard to them, but hey it makes me feel good. :P

I just know, im hanging to have her home, and drive her round like crazy. besides, once shes done and home, then its onto all the fun things...like bling bling & butterflies!

FINALLY...

After what seems like forever, but is closer to 7 months, Edith had finally amde it to the road.

I picked her up from the mechanics, and much to my amusement she drove along very happily to the RTA.

Once we got there, it was a very simple task of showing them the papers, and paying the bill. They didnt even go out to check her vin etc...

Sat down for a drink, and organised insurance. Yes, I did that before I drove her an inch further. Why? Because my partner once drove his new car out of a car yard, 500 meters, then got rear ended. the bill $3k. He also had insurance...so it became someone elses headache , but a lesson we all remember. 🙂

Funny part is this...two companies refused to insure her because of the 'crazy paint'. They thought she'd be involved in too many accidents due to other motorists being distracted...lol Anyway, RACQ did insure her for the pricely sum of $310/annum. So then Aj and I were off.

And we drove everywhere...lol

Drove to pick up another of my sons, went out to Ippy, then back to pick up my daughter Ally, then well..anywhere they could think of.

Only just finished driving in fact. Approx 80/90miles in her first day.

She visited everyone, showed off her lovely arse, and basically had fun.

My son Dan loves her, Ally even more so, and Aj, well he couldnt stop waving to all the people waving at him. Tonight im sleeping with the keys tucked under my pillow, since my son discovered the car is a chick magnet.

WOW...

Ok...weekend started out not good....but has ended great..and I mean GREAT!!

I have 3 cars, as some of u know.

One 70 Standard 1300 called Edith
A 72 Super 1500 (motor transplant b4 me)
And 61 called Blue Belle who has 1600 (motor transplant also done b4 me)

Blue Belle hasnt been to the road for more than an hour since I got her. She had a number of hidden problems just waiting to burst forward. BUT, I doubt even the previous owner would have been aware of them when selling her to me. The work he did was great, but like I said, there are problems. Just sitting until the pressure was too much ....

So, there I was, thinking the problems were only small....ie, just a gearbox transplant and door mechanism. Mechanism Purchased, gearbox located. And JohnnyB, god bless this man has the biggest heart, he jumped under the donor car and dropped the box for us on Saturday - the last sat, which was miserable, raining and muddy.

Get home (Still SAturday) Clean up the gearbox, and leav ti all oevrnight.

On Sunday, Jace takes her for a DRIVE.....turns out I need the gearbox, pressure plate, clutch. and new doors, as the one I have have rust which has been "added onto' It appears someone in this cars history has simply 'added' a peice of metal over the rust and then welded it on. Painted over it, and reset teh doors...was great for a while, but once the doors moved...well...they couldnt go back.

The VW stores are all closed so I cant even race off to grab the clutch and pressure plates.

Anyway, after finding all this out, Jace thought there was simply no way we'd get her on the road properly at this point...well not in time to take her to Valla. And sicne I only have his expertise THIS one WEEKEND b4 Valla...whatever we do has to be done quickly.

So off we trot to sort out Edith, assuming she should be a quick fix, just a tune and brakes to be bleed.

Well, if u know of the history I have with Edith, she has been a loyal car, and so I'm nto upset at taking her. Blue Belle would have been nice. But HEY, Ediths nice too. And LOYAL

But once Jace saw her, he told me there was no way she'd make it to Valla either...Not without a major number of transplants. Starting with new motor. ARGHHH!

Her brakes needed adjusting, since i had none (NO BRAKES....well, explains the sliding etc) not to mention sorting out the fact I hit the floor before there is any clutch.

So list for EDITH was : Motor, Brakes & sorting out the clutch. :cry


Thankfully I had an engine, condition was unknown, but compression was good. So we take the chance on it.

As we are pulling out the old one, we come across something Jace and JohnnyB (checked by phone) havent seen before. There is a lever on the back of the shroud to adjust some vents on the shroud which allows more air to get into the engine (I think thats what Jace said they were for)

Problem is the damn handle is stopping us getting the motor out because it is hitting everything.

About 2 hours later, the boys have finally worked out how to get the damn thing out. And now we get to put the other back in.

Once that was done, we try turning it over. After a couple of tries, the battery went flat. ARRRGHHHH. At this point, boys think petrol and matchs are a good fix for Edith. I hide the matchs, lighters and damn...i cant hide the fuel. anyway...

The battery is charged up over night, and Jace comes the next day (Monday)...Just for fun.

He finishes putting a feww more touches to car, and then we turn it over. IT GOES...YEAHHHHHHH....lots of smaoke (cough cough) but that soon clears up. :thumb

But take ur foot of the acceleration, and it dies. Timing is checked and not to bad...but the damn carby is leaking.

The 1600 had a 34 pict, and I only had 31 picts on my other motor. DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN... Its $350 for a new one...

BUT yeah for MICK at micks motors who just mentions that he has "adaptor plates for about $27.00' so that u can change a 31 to fit a 34 spec....and it worked like a dream. Way to save $320 bucks. :thumb

Jace ran out of time, so Big A is now working on car. (also picked up the Idiots guise whilst at Micks) Put rest of it together with very little problems.

NEXT things we did was brakes.

Big A dropped under the car and bleed the brakes. On an average, it took 5 pumps of the brakes before the fluid came thru. That in essences means...NO BRAKES we working well previously SHIT!

Then...Big A checked the clutch, and with a quick adjust, they were also sorted nicely...so now it sits high on the pedal.

AND WHAT A DIFFERENCE iT MAKES :kiss

she's become a speedy little rocket, brakes nicely, and wow...changing the gears is nice and smooth.

Edith and I had no idea what we were missisng out on, but she is so happy....just humming beautifully.

I intend to send her to Micks Motors to be given the once over, and to make sure she is in good shape to head to Valla. But I can tell u...right now...she is totally perfect.

So a BIG thanks goes to Jace (MANX XTC) for letting me know...she wasnt running well in the first place, and what I had been told by various mechanics was not necessarily right. :kiss

the flaps at the back of the fan shroud i think were stock to help the motor warm up quicker in colder climates most of which were removed when sold from dealers in australia. or so my understanding goes.

I'm still all for some nice slimline white walls...but as i said..the mans the one choosing... and we disagree about that bit all the time. Oh, and u know I''ve been told accessories are to be NOS..even if we're paying more for it. DIdnt understand why..until i went to g/c show. If u pick up the wrong imitation accessories looks kinda cheap. not always..but sometimes. Some looked great....some looked overdone and cheap

ATMO the sqr is getting the accessories we have been collecting and is looking very kewl. I think Tazz is now searching for a roof rack..i think. lol. Im sure Tazz can update it as he feels fit.

Might put pics up over weekend of all the cars in the yard...two beetles and type 3s and the 'ough cough' non vw dailies and that doesnt include the others we have in our friends yard, cause we ran out of space at our house..😂
