does any body have access to discount chrome plating, or possible barter/parts trade for chrome work?

Mate.. My chrome guy get all his work done in Melbourne.. Something to do with Vic state regulations allow use of arsenic (I think)..

Not all that cheap though.. last bits were my type 2 bumpers.. Straight but still cost $700.00.. If you want I'll dig his number out at the office tomorrow..

...I got Bel done in Nunawading...it wasn't great ans then I was told his quality was going down hill....he wasn't cheap either...

Go into the paint section on the forum...they might help there too....Helbus might know someone...or others

I'll try and find the guy's number who has done a bunch of work for me. It is all top quality and not to expensive ~$100 for a bumper. SE suburbs...

someone put a post up a while ago about restoring their bug, and said they had access to free blasting and chroming.
thaught they might see this thread and feel like helping out dubbers (not for free but at half standard price or something like that):kiss

I have seen good work done by A.A Vinneys in Dandenong. If you say it must be perfect, then he will go the extra mile. Expect to pay for triple plating and extra metal polishing time.

Pittards in Fitzroy are good quality and price in my experience also.

The price of Nickel has gone up, so yeah expect the price of plating to go up as it uses a lot of Nickel.

I always say get the good plating done the first time and you wont have to pay to do it again because it is rusting 12 months down the track.

$300 for a bumper is what you have to pay these days to get a decent finish. If you get it done for less, then maybe you are lucky, maybe you have less chrome finish? Who knows?

I used Pittard Electro Plating in Collingwood. Don't really know if they are cheaper than anyone else or not because I always used them. They give you a price before they start anyway.

When your taking your Parts for chroming make sure take everything needed to be chrome or if you have to pull things apart of your car that way it's cheaper dont do it one peice at the time put them all in one box then he can't over charge try Prahran Platers Malvern Rd.

apparently there are two types of chrome plating. the cheaper one is for show (i assume you want this one?) and the more expensive one is for super strength. this is what i was told. i'm in tas though so i can't help you
