Interesting read...
I am a member of several hotrod fora. Including the one so (in)famously shut down and evoking legal action and member dissatisfaction which now threatens the ASRFs existance. And another where you require rodders to vouch for you before you can join.
I never see any grief from these guys. They generally admire all cars particularly those where the owners have customised them. Some people have copped it from them - those who come into the scene and try to take over or force the VW issue. Like most things attitude is a big factor.
It is pleasing to see that more and more people are taking a "hotrod" approach to the scene. Many qualities of the rod and kustom scene would benefit the vw scene immensely.

That's not what I meant but the cutting of metal is a good thing! The design process did not end on the factory floor just as the creative process does not end when an author types "the end". The end user has a duty to continue the creative process - after all automotive design is an art.Bizarre wrote:ahhhh........ you must mean attacking rare and valuable metal with a gas axe!!
What I meant is the commeraderie of the rodders, the ability to see beyond the next show and to constantly revise yourself and look to ther scenes to continue the progression of the sport.
