does anyone know how much a early 60s beetle (1200cc) weighs? approximate will be fine.

750 kgs??

My super is 890 kgs ( i think) and they are considerably lighter

yep 740kg my manual says for my '63. Convertibles weigh about 50kg more.

yep extra reinforcement rails and other bits because you lose a lot of stiffness when there is no roof structure. Otherwise the body would flex so bad that the doorrs probably wouldnt shut properly 😉
