Where do I find a split system MAster cylinder to suit a 62 Beetle?

What else do I need to install this in my car?

I was thinking of doing this in my 58, just decided to go with a brand new single circuit one, I have not gone to a dual circuit, but I from what I have seen you just need to plug in the hoses into different holes, you will need to get a brake fluid reservoir with 2 compartments.. i bought mine from a VW shop, about $50 or something.. came with all I needed, bungs etc..

Dual brake Master cylinders are VERY EXPENSIVE compared to a single system Master Cylinder....

If You find a good used dual master cylinder, Some Brake companies can install a stanless steel sleeve inside the master cylinder... which will never wear out.... well it will last for a very long time IMHO....
the seals on the piston will also last a long time.....
If You have it done, ask them to put new seals in it too...
around $100 to have it done....

What are the benefits of going dual system over single system?

SAFETY...........If a hose bursts on the single circuit system you lose ALL brakes......if it happens on a dual circuit system you only lose half the system so you can still stop.

Just use a 68-on system.. dual circuit and quite cheap (but not as cheap as a single circuit one)

what value is your life...

Thanks for the info.

I bought a TRW dual circuit MC for about $25US
There is a drawback, the SC ones have a 17mm bore where as the DC ones are 19mm which results in increased peddle effort.

I just spent a lovely sunny arvo covered in brake fluid and grease changing
master cylinder, shoes and cylinders.

What I found incredibly bodgy is the main feed from the resevoir to the master cylinder is just a push in rubber thingy instaed of a metal screw in fitting.

Somebody had put a cable tie or two in there to keep it from falling out,
why they designed it like this is beyond me.

Was going to try and do this work today but have to go out and gig instead. I'll put it off for another day.
