Like i said before i don't know much about them. If you are talking about the shape of the body its probably cos i resized using MS PAINT and it went a bit wonky...

I have the log books and service history etc. for the white one...

The instruction manual says "VW 1302" and the badge on the back says "VOLKSWAGEN S"

then its a super...should have been a 1600, but someone has probably replaced the motor...

lso, if i have it rite, the two vents in the back lids suggest pre71 super.

go on boys, bag me and tell me how wrong i got it....

the white one is a 1302. that means '71 to '72 superbug. should be a 1600 engine unless it's been swapped.

Well according to my old man, its a 1300... is there any way i can physically see proof of it being a 1600 or 1300? a number on the engine maybe?

if its the origional case then they engine number should start with AD if im remembering correctly.

its definatly a 71 or 72 superbug. will have IRS and macpherson strut front end.

And does anyone know if AD at the begining makes it a 1600 and vice versa etc etc...?

it is just under the generator stand. if it starts with AD then its a dual releif 1600 case. as far as i know. and this would be the origional engine also check the inlet manafolds. there should be 2 pipes meeting the heads and a 34pict carbie for a stock superbug engine.

yeah wouldnt have to be pre 71 bugeyed babe as i have a 71super and it has the two vents on the decklid. irs, mcpherson strut. handles quite well for a bug actually 🙂

problem was in my delivery....i meant 71 and earlier,

i have a 71 & 72 and when i was hunting for info was told the vents were a good way of telling the years...

They are both running, unregistered, i've got service books etc for the white 1600 but not sure about the blue one.

The white 1600 has a not in the engine but the blue 1600 is working fine.

One the white 1600 the only real rust is in the passenger door and thats only across a bit of the bottom of the door.

The blue 1600 has rust in the usually places... the pics show a bit of it. There is a bit around the top of the passenger door, a bit around where the soft top ends etc...

Yeah... I got them given to me during the holidays for something to do. Didin't get much time to do anything before school started and now they are just taking up space in the back yard...

Had some plans etc. but they are also annoying my dad so he put them in the paper for $1100 ONO... They will be in saturdays paper...

Man, $600 is a bargin. I would pay AT LEAST $1000 for the pair. My mate purchased two separately that were way more banged up for $700 a bug. (THATS $1400 FOR 2 BEETLES IN WORSE CONDITION THEN YOURS)

I live in QLD and i wish to be build a buggy. It requires a vw 1500 beetle floorpan. If that post earlier by that other guy who states that the 1300 looks more like a 1500 is right (in that it is a 1500), I would be willing to take both, however, i won't have the cash until early January next year.

(That is if ur willing to wait that long). The only problem is to work out how to get it up here. (perhaps ship).

But anyway, if you want to work out the true model on the beetle (the model chassis) check the VIN number under the rear seat stamped on the gearbox tunnel to check the year. use an interpreter such as the one on VWFool's website or the idiots guide to work out which year the beetles were made. (I'm not sure where this website is, but this is what I was told)
So you may have to search for it in google or something.

If it is a vw beetle 1500, it would be built around 1967 to 1971. So if you can, check if it was build during those years.

I find it hard to understand why Trevally has been messed around so much trying to sell these Beetles. The white one is a 71 Superbug in top condition save for a couple of dents & a minor knock in the motor. According to the paperwork with it & especially the condition the 29,000 miles on the speedo looks "GENUINE". The blue one is a bit ratty but mechanically good.
I could't believe my luck so I paid the man his $600.00 gladly , got in them & "DROVE" them both home.
