thievery in the VW community

well, I'd hafta say this is another sad day in the VW world.

Last night while I was at a concert, some @#$%^!&@ went and stole the plastic handle on the inside of my kombi sliding door. Apparently this is a rare and hard to replace part of the kombi. Based on that, I've come to the conclusion that a VW owner has stolen this piece out of my car.

People have talked in the past on this forum about how parts of their car were stolen. All I could ever be was sympathetic but now I know! People who steal, ESPECIALLY VW OWNERS who steal from other VW owners, are cowards and do not even deserve to own a VW. I am REALLY pissed off about this.

If anybody has one of those plastic handle thingy's that are attached to the inside of the kombi sliding door (my kombi is 1973) or knows where I can get one, please U2U me.

no, the car was locked.
the quarter window on my door was forced open. the window wasn't locked, as i open it all the time, and you can't open the sliding door by putting your hand thru the window but you can steal the handle thru the window!!! I didn't even consider that someone would be so low as to do that.

I had the tail-lights stolen off my beetle last year. I still don't know if it was for the part or to be a c***, whoever it was broke them that badly they would have been unuseable anyway

All I meant was that we work hard to buy our precious VW stuff. And that some people out there prefer to steal your stuff rather than spending their own money to buy it.

It was never intended as a dig at the unemployed.

Really sorry to hear that dodge, the bastard who did it need to learn a lesson.... in saying that slaping them around is not always the right answer, i caught a young lad busting the lock on my 71 bug in the uk and my first reaction was to give him something to remember me by.

a broken nose,and jaw later i am hauled of to the police station and charged with assult... now he was stealing MY car, he had done damage to MY car but i was the one in the wrong? go figure

Do i regret it? not really, i have a record now cuz of it and wish i didnt but as for the lad my guess is he will think twice before stealing anything again in case someone like me comes out... the law does nothing really, a slap on the wrist and a small fine is all they get.

my point is i got in the shit and i was made out to be the bad one in all this when all i was doing was defending what was mine, the truth is i lost my temper and lashed out, the lad was a fair bit smaller and i only hit him the once but the damage was done. i have that record for the rest of my life.

the way i try to look at it now is what goes around comes around and who ever steals,robs what ever will get what is coming to them.... or maybe be a bit more sneaky than me and dont get caught 🙂

have to totally agree with mrs cabrio on that one.in the east they cut off your hand,as the same in india....and when you get your cut your hand cut off in india your more or less an outcast!!!!solved the problem of theft very dramatically!!i remember that adam from ipswich had his 72-73 cabrio(with the red top )broken into(think they were trying to steal it.and they sliced open his whole cabrio top!!vw thieves are everywhere these days..dad had a vw splitty badge stolen from his stall at the nats about five years ago and have even lost count on the amount of stuff that has gone missing on european swaps!!!

alot of people think that lottomann from bad camberg took it really bad on the last bad camberg meeting that he organised because a bunch or a low life piece of f**** sh*** went around more or less RIPPING parts of his rare and expensive but more or less beutiful cars!!!doing more damage to his cars than the parts were even worth!!.forget the police when it comes to matters like this...if you can catch them redhanded,give em a good fogging,throw them in the back of your boot and drive them out the bush and strip them down naked and drive off!!garrentee you you wont get charged aslong as you put a good scare into these barstartds!!

had one thief on a swapmeet get busted last year stealing a 10 euro commemorative egg(worth shit really)but the guy got pointed out and i watched my neighbours stall while he cought up to the thief(ofcourse he denied it)and after the seller(mate of mine...6ft2 skin head)came back he more or less lost ther plot after having a lady confirm that she saw him pocket it!!he ended up chasing him down again and cop a good crack in the head after finding the item on his person!!got off very lighly seeing this guys a bouncer and likes to brawl!!but loosing a handle does suck!!!

hope it doesnt happen again.but every dog has his day!!sooner or later!!!!😉

forgot to mention that in europe alot of sellers have halft a meter high chicken wire around thier stalls to protect thier stuff and everyone always takes off thier taillights(hears and split window beetles)at night on vw shows in europe!!just sad that a few rotten apples spoil the bunch!!!:puke

It is really sickening to hear that someone out there has stolen anything from a Volkswagen . You would hope that they are not VW enthusiests as they would be tarnishing the image that all VW owners represent . However it does happen , just before going to Valla 2004 I gave away a very good condition pair of running boards to buzzbug as his were looking a bit second hand and we wanted to make his bug look great for the show . Unfortunately he didn't get the opportunity to fit them before leaving the south-coast and took them to Valla so that he could fit them up there . Whilst organising his tent at the camping ground and packing goods into his bug , some arsehole came along and stole the running boards . I cannot begin to tell you how awful this made our whole club feel and will end with one comment ........... HOW LUCKY THEY ARE THAT I DIDN'T CATCH THEM !!!!!

all of these ppl are needed to make us look better...

I know the Russians used to remove their windscreen wipers
when they parked their car... but that was in the old USSR...

when/if the doll eventually stops, crime rates will go up, some people who cant find employment will resort to stealing (maybe even bread) to support themselves. we will either help support the unemployed though our tax, or through our broken windows. i know witch id prefer.....
either way, there is always going to be selfish people around who dont think about other people, or dont care, and will act accordingly ie.trashing your door lock for some small change, or nicking a hard to find part etc.

I didn't get a chance to look last night. I know I have one somewhere in the shed. If you can't find one locally give me a yell.......
