i got the nuts on my wheels dont up so tight i cant even crack em with all my weight em, any suggestions?

Bizarre ·

Soak liberally with WD 40

then

Option 1 - breaker bar. If you have a wheel brace slip a long bit of water pipe over one of the cross pieces and heave on that

Option 2 - drive to a local tyre dealer and get them to rattle gun it open for a couple of beers.
Then do it back up with a wheel brace

Dang beat me to it!! I was going to same the same thing. Well done ole' chap.

If car is not drivable, may have to borrow a rattle gun from someone??

~air fooled~ ·

take a whole lot of roids? hahaha.. how bout use a big breaker bar against the ground as leverages and go froward or back? or run down the mechanics and get them to loosen them off a bit with a rattle gun..

~air fooled~ ·

damm it! you all beat me to it! i got yas with the roids though! hahaha

DIY-DUB ·

dammit i wanna rattle gun, will have 2 go the wd and some jumping or bashing or pulling severely, thanks 4 quick replies tho, dont have a bar or nutin, that was the 1st thing i looked 4

Dasdubber ·

Is it drivable/registered?

DIY-DUB ·

registered yes, driveable not really, some wheels off already, and its pouring rain and i dont want 2 have 2 put em on again and dry it off again, can u tell im lazy?

Yep :thumb

I can pretty much guarantee the frustration/effort of trying to get the remaining nuts off will be more than that to put the other wheels back on and drive down the servo/tyre shop :P But who knows, you might get lucky - may have to build your forearms up over the next few days "some how" and then try again. :o

DIY-DUB ·

nah i aint sleepin till i get em off, any1 got fast acting roidz i could borro, funny how ive never had an issue with havin em up so tight b4

BiX ·

also try hitting the end of the spanner while standing on it. the shock can sometimes break the nut loose.

DIY-DUB ·

who the hell uses a spanner on wheel nuts? i got a massive wheel brace type thing, works on everything else

Chewy ·

next time dont do them up so tight, if you get a flat in the middle of nowhere then you are shit creek without a paddle.

DIY-DUB ·

note 4 u chewy I didnt do em up so tight, usually i got some1 else who tightens em up more but i dont now

BiX ·

I have a 1/2 inch drive with the correct size socket's for both wheel nuts and the axle nuts. with a 700mm piece of pipe, no wheel nut or axle nut has ever been a problem!! thats why you use a spanner!! (still have a wheel brace the spanner is just for when they are stuck)

DIY-DUB ·

i c, that explains it

toplessbug ·

if you do the bloody things up to tight you WILL distort the disc or drum look at the factory torque its not extension bar tight

Special Air Service ·

mate give the nuts/bolts a belt (or a couple of belts) square on the ends with a decent size hammer this sometimes shocks/jars them enough to help loosen them off.
good luck

DIY-DUB ·

I DIDNT DO EM UP SO DAMN TIGHT, the wd40 was sucessful still required a severe amount of effort tho, but damn i want a rattle gun, makes it so much easier

pyr0 ·

not if u break down on the side of the road it font :duh

DIY-DUB ·

lol true pyro, unless i have airbag suspension ay? mmm seems more useful now

Starbug ·

i find that if i cant get a wheel nut off with heaps of force...
i close my eyes and use heaps of force... closing your eyes works somehow
