I am trying to cover most of the common motors here. What is a preference.

What would you do to your Vee Dub if you had the chance to or have you done, or will you be doing. Whatever

68AutoBug 路

I have the original engine in My 68 Beetle although the engine is Now 1600 instead of 1500...
I kept it a single port even though I changed the heads...
I don't know why I did that馃檪馃檪

but I do have a 1600 twin port for a spare from a 1302S ...

I probably would have liked a 1776cc engine with 1.4 - 1 roller rockers , twin Kadrons, electronic ignition, and exhaust extractors...

My Son has an 1835cc with twin kadrons & fancy extractors...
large sump and external oil cooler....

I'd stick to an air cooled - my 2 litre is standard except for the dual 40mm Dellorto carbs, a watson 275 racing cam (a small one by some measures) and unleaded heads

barls 路

go the t4 in a bug cruise all day at 110km and not worry about hills

winerot 路

Octa 路

man...all this talk about type4... now I want a type4 in my notch... Hey midlife how much you spent to get a type4 motor in your type 3?

I want it :bounce :bounce

helbus 路

Yeah that comes under "larger aircooled"
Grey 57 wrote:Mate you forgot to include 911 Flat 6 !!!!

helbus 路

Your Kombi is a "type 2" Volkswagen, along with utes, panel vans and double cabs

The motor is a "type 4" motor if it is a 1700, 1800 or 2litre

Just to confuse you if it is a 1968-1979 'kombi', or 'bay window' then it is a T2 model type 2

The T2 designates it as a second generation Transporter, being after the 'split window' type 2

just 'Kombi' will be ok for me though.

I'm going for an 1835 in my current project car (Baja), only because I already have all the bits to build it... I will see how it performs with the EFI set-up on it...if there is not enough grunt I will Type IV it ASAP...Type IVs are very nice to drive and almost bullet proof!

I have gone Type 4 for my Oval-82 stroke by 103 bore. Still yet to drive it to feel the awesome power. My 64 is tyre shredding 40HP and will leave it that way.

MUD BASHING ANYONE ?? 路

The type4 seems dam popular good to see more people using them and hell yeah 82mm stroke with 103mm bore nice work the will be a wicked motor.

Twin Cab I owned a few years back had a type 1 Pobjoy 2.1 litre with twin 45mm Dellortos - grunt to burn - shame it only had an 18 box as it revved to high. oh well the current purring 2 litre to 2 litre box is sweet as :thumb

ancientbugger 路

1800 Type 4 in the buggy now it doesn't slow down in the deep sand:party In the cab it's still the original fuel injected 1600, smooth as a babys' bum and quiet too and that's the way it's going to stay.

GL1972 路

2110cc with twin Dellortos and programmable ignition and mitsu distributor.

Plenty of torque

64vwmark 路

One day I'd like to have my 1641 tp supercharged

More Boost 路

I'm getting all the peices together for a type 4 with twin turbos and then I am going to put it all into a '62 kombi. Fully street legal and engineered. Also used to run a turbo, injected 1916 in my '64 beetle

[Edited on 13-4-2005 by More Boost]

VWCOOL 路

a just-freshened little baby Pobjoy 1916cc.. am saving for a mental one, probably with Delco injection.
