Anyone stock a type 3 carpet kit?

Gibbo ·

Anyone know where they might stock these in Aus?

Cheers!

Just ring a trimmer. You'll get a better fit and probably considerably cheaper.

For a sqaure, from tailgate to inside the boot you use less than 4 metres of carpet.

Gibbo ·

Hmm, yep considered that, but they might need some patterns to work from. I binned all the carpet I had, it was going moldy and falling apart from the watter that was getting into the car.
Arse.

It's all simple shapes. Most of it flat. They won't need a template.

VWENVY ·

Its pretty straight forward for a good trimmer. You'll find some just wont do it though!!

There is a guy advertising in VWMA and was at the Nats who makes RHD carpets for type3s from templates. The name was something like Cruizin' something. Craig form VMWA should know who I am talking about. The last time I spoke to him about making a set for me his prices were more than reasonable and the quality seemed spot on. If you can't find his name/number let me know and I will look in my VWMA when I get home.

Cruzin Car Carpets. Based in South West Sydney.
He quoted $160 for a type three from footwell to rear seat.
Another $100 for the rear for a square.
This was in a basic carpet - not sure how well that carpet wears - might want to spring a bit more for better?

Yep try Cruzin 0400-996-855 or
Vintage 02-9789-1777 they both have them in Stock.

Guy in Bris (south side) I think Gary Moltzen or something like that - he has or had the white bay with flames down the side and slammed to the weeds. He did the VWDQC Inc beetle resto upholstery that was raffled.

Ig no luck then got to Old Dubber on here and he'll know who I'm rambling about

Tru fit are the go. I was looking around about a year ago an they're the only one I could find who had the template. They make it in heaps of colours and it fits well. Just don't expect top service, but they're pretty cheap.

SKEWtYpe3 ·

service?
i rang them 8 times for samples, still nothing received, must be lost in the mail..........................

SPRINTSTAR ·

Forget it with Tru-Fit, I ordered a set from them and I had to return it coz it was so bad...both in workmanship and the actual service for delivery etc...

NCH-003 ·

Hey Gibbo i got mine from Jackson Foam here in Ipswich. It took about a week to get here but it fits perfect.

Have to agree with the negative report on Tru-Fit!

1. Sent patterns for early notch and they lost them.

2. Sent new patterns and it took forever to get the carpets with promised dates.

3. Quality left much to be desired.

I guess that I eventially did get the carpet so that was something to be thankfull for.

I tried the local co. in Sydney's SW before them. They gave me a call re the carpet would be ready at a time and date. Phoned to varify on the day and when I fronted to pick up they hadn't even ordered the material!!

Get it from VVW where the finished product can be seen or use a trimmer where you can see progress AND THEN PAY!!

Don't believe the sample products you see at the shows!! The actual ones they dish up to the customer is in many cases 2nd rate and I have one sample in the notch to prove it.

The same goes for dash re-covering. At present I doubt if there is anyone in Sydney who could be trusted with the rare early T3 dash which blends into the door trims. Once again, delivery time and quality. I phoned and was informed the dash was ready but when I fronted, the manager said it wasn't up to standard and had to be done again! On demand, I sighted the dash and it hadn't had any poor covering removed!! It had only just been started.
