moving soon and need parts for my bay

Hey volks.

Don't suppose anyone in melbourne has any spare engine parts for an 1800 t4, and misc other parts?

I found out that I'm moving again soon, and my van is still dead. Had it shipped here from qld. I suspect either another dropped valve seal or a broken ring causing havoc. it's an odd, loud squeak and click.
It only did 60km since I fixed it last!

I only just discovered that there's a vw wrecker only 2 blocks away from me (always zigged instead of zagged), but I'm not exactly affluent to put it nicely.

Exactly what parts do you need? Volkswagenwerk has some engine bits for sale in Coburg.

Yeah, moving again. I'm so sick of it! Lived in 2 different places around melb too.

Thats in coburg? nice and close.

Been meaning to have another look at the one here, ie thomastown. Don't even know what it's called. And it's only about 5 minutes away by foot!

I don't know much about registering cars in victoria either. So this should be fun.

your insane mate.. good luck with it!

If I got it blue slipped in NSW after it sat outside for a year, I think I should stand a pretty good chance.

Too lazy to look at what I've already said, but odds are I need a head more than anything else.
I have one spare head left, but someone seems to have done a lap on the valve seats instead of an interference fit. So I'm not even sure I can adjust the rockers out far enough to compensate.

Thanks,
Tristan of Thomastown

Heya Tristan,
I've still got the Superbug under the house, chopped all the rust out then put it on hold while I got the Kombi firin'. We've just done 8000 k's to South Aus, Vic, NSW and back home over the last six weeks towing a fourteen foot timber dinghy. Used 500ml of oil and lots of petrol (towing the flattie through the Snowy's to Jindabyne 5.5 k's per litre). No other probs, except the dizzy's buggered, anyone got a cheap one for a 2 litre?, All the best mate,
Cheers,
Ian in Maryborough

Glad to hear the bug's in good hands. You're doing what I could never do.

You should have seen the state of my kombis motor before I rebuilt it (before it died again)
Just about all the rings were broken, one sparkplug was not in properly (something weird happened with the helicoiled thread) Another cylinder was fouled with oil, and I found a few missing nuts and bolts, a bit of a dizzy, an allen key and a lot of crud under the tinware.
It got a thorough clean, new rings (which didn't fit right. I think that was the reason behind the last failure), new gaskets etc. Ran great!
I drove interstate a couple of times with the engine in its weakened state. Once fully loaded and with a 4wd trailer on it. You know. Big wheels chunky design.

Anyhow, I guess that not many people have misc parts around.

I've got a 1800 Kombi motor that is sitting in the shed. It was runing although one cyclynder is cactus.
