I was just wondering how much do real nice split vans go for in oz. don't worry i don't want to buy them and bring them to the uk, i just want the info so i can decide if its worth bringing my van over from the uk when i emigrate next year.
I would be looking for the vans that are lowered and have some nice extra's on them, not to bothered about how standard they might be. just real nice vans. would prefer a 15 window split :thumb
if they are expensive then i might have to bring my own 15 window with me and that would cost a small fortune.

thats your answer and thats all u need to know

thanks for the info....................any chance of some real advice tho 馃槈
Bizarre 路
This sold pretty quickly at the Nationals the other day - like with in the hour
either way - i would bring yours if you have done work on them. Cant cost more than a grand or 2 and you know the history
jenz58 路
Bring yours unless you're looking for a change...it looks very sweet...would be nice to see it over here 馃槑

I'd hazard a guess (and thats all it would be) that it would be cheaper to bring your split over (Talk to KombiKid ? I think, he just imported a Fridolin from Belgium so is au fait with the costs) than to get an aussie split to that level or to buy one.
Plus I agree with what Jen said - your bus looks sweet !
Fossil 路
Prices vary and as it goes you get for what you pay - bring yours as better the bus you know than don't know
baybuscamperkid 路
at least you know what has gone into yours, no real way of knowing how an already restored one has been built - what mistakes/shortcuts have been taken.
DubCrazy 路
hey pickle bring yours over .... and when u do let me fill it up with stuff that i have in storage back there 馃檪.... onething u will need to look into... is if your bus would be able to be roadworthy'd(mot) as the laws here are very very different to the uk and a lot of the mods are not allowed that you can do in the uk..... cost wise, if u get a container share into melbourne its about a grand ... but make sure u have a current log book in your name and a DVLA form stating its being exported to australia and u payed the fee's ..... it sounds like a pain in the arse but its not to bad... ... when do u get here anyhows????
steff...........................

hope to land in brissy some time next year. what sort of mods are allowed then? my bus is a bit modified, adjustable front and rear suspension rover disks brakes all round irs'ed thats about it really nothing over the top. I'ld proberbly look into bring the van over full of my own gear and maybe a few extras that are hard to get in oz.
but hey if theres space who knows.

adjsutable front end will be a no no
spindles of if with engerneers cert.
same as disc conversion
i think thats right, thats all ...........?
change it back to stock to registere then swap back !
vw54 路
Bring yours .... as its very hard to find one for sale..... most need to spend 10 to 15K on them for RUST and paint to get into decent order.
That is if you can find one.

you being serious????? can't really change the suspension and brakes just to get it registered. jesus christ when i was over in oz earlier this year some of the cars driving round were death traps and i still need to get a perfectly safe bus back to a not so safe standard, to get it registered????
yeah like i'm going to do that when i can sell it here for 拢15k easy and just buy one over there.
how do you all go about modifying your cars and buses then with such nasty red tape???
zjm 路
dont let these people scare you . you will need to see a licenced motor engineer to certify your modifications are safe
but if the workmanship is good there is usually no drama
main concerns are ride height 10 cm clearance at lowest point , steering and suspension in good order , engine noise
(steel wool in muffler works miracles)
I'd go and see an engineer who handles hot rods queensland is a good place for modifying vehicles
15000 pounds will go along way in australia
we throw out cars that are less rusty than the stuff pomys
think are goodrestorers rust wise project splits start about $2000 au (900 pound) be aware that there are now restrictions on exporting historic vehicles from australia with massive fines and prison sentences
zjm 路
oops you said real nice vans
$15000 to $30000
most aussie vans are kombies microbuses and sambas are really rare here we werent into counting windows much in the fiftys and sixtys and the sun here is abit to hot for sunroofs

The rules for modifications vary from state to state. What is not OK in NSW & VIC might be OK in QLD.

I think you will find it might be better to sell your and buy one here.
If you can get 15,000 pounds I would sell it.
Here you would find it really hard to get that much for a split, there is not the scene as there is in England.
That is why most of the good ones end up back in England.
Cheers
Dave

Hey i got no intention of buying a bus in oz and taking it to england. I'll be living over there so would rather bring buses and vw bits over to oz rather than the other way.
not looking for a 21 or 23 just a real nice 15 window delux :thumb
are there any good resto people in or around south qld sort of area that are recomended? just in case i sell my bus here and buy an aussie bus.
