I applied for one with the Salvation Army today that sounds really good (put in a good word hehe) 😉
The reason I say I'm fed up with dealing with agencies is because I have applied for jobs I've seen on jobsearch.gov with my local job agency and emailed off my application only for them to tell me I need a job seeker number and go to centrelink. I went to centrelink and they said I could only get a job seeker no. if I was receiving benefits and to see the job agency about that ! GAH I haven't worked in 4 months, it's not like I'm taking a job from anyone who needs it more then I do.
So yes, I have been cold canvassing..emailing my resume to businesses in my local area and I will ring a few places tomorrow. 🙂

Yeah, great system. (Don't even go there.. don't get me started)
It is also important to follow up your applications/ interest in jobs.. say.. 3 days.. and every 3 days until they tell you to... go away.
Of course, this is only my opinion, and there will be plenty of others smarter than I, with better advice too.

Hi Fossil,
I heard from her this afternoon, she asked me to come in on Friday for an interview 🙂 Said something about it being part time to start off with and then full time if/when someone leaves.
Sounds pretty good except she said I would be purchasing computer bits and pieces - I wouldn't have a clue what half the hardware is on the market!
BenettonVW ·
Nice.. now interviews is a whole 'nother world.. 🙂
Fossil ·
Don't panic Amanda there's plenty around to help out - hope it goes well and we'll catch up when you're in 🙂

I think custom off road has a position available they need a receptionist & one that is a subaru expert would be an advantage, ha ha, cheers hope you find something soon
rice_girl ·
gotta love those interviews :repuke
Thanks fossil! Sounds good apart from that, especially being part time to start off with. I've been travelling/bumming for 4 months now so it will be good to ease into work.
hehe I know as much about car parts as I do about computer bits :P Cheers psychobuggers so do I.

Amanda, Our sytems is automated so if you can use a computer ya should be ok 😉

Give Westpac a call. They have a big centralised site I'm pretty sure in Bris that do a lot of back office accounts receivable / payable.
rice_girl ·
Cool fossil, I could manage that 🙂
Thanks for that suggestion squizy, they'd have to give me a job, i'm a loyal westpac customer 😀 I will look into that if all else fails.
I had an interview today, the place is literally 2 minutes drive from my house! The position sounds great - the company is just starting out and needs someone to do a few different things: administration, reception, accounts, as well as run about in the company car on errands. And If I want to they will train & send me to tafe to become a Typesetter/Graphic Designer.
How good is that! :thumb
Sounds too good to be true so I probably won't get it!😉
Fossil ·
Be positive Amanda and you'll get it
rice_girl ·
I got it woohoo! :bounce
I'll also be studying I.T and going in that direction within the company.
I start on Tuesday!
YAY!
