(free bump)

jenz58 ·

...it is Bel....she's splashing some oil...and that's what they think it is...she's going fine....not dripping....just splashes when I drive her...have to wipe her up when I stop poor baby :kiss

Not loosing a lot but gotta get it fixed...

VolksFolks ·

Sounds like the rod tubes are leaking not you pistons Jen, anyway cip1 do the pistons and barrels

jenz58 ·

....they told me this might be the problem when I picked Bel up today...but they didn't have parts...

they say the oil is getting shot out from behind the pulley...it's not dripping....I clean it up under her hood...not dripping just spraying when she drives

jenz58 ·

Andy...Nathan just rang me...he thinks the same...blocked crankshaft tube...thingy

He gets it if tube not cleaned out every so often and gunk builds up in it...pressure builds up n oil spurts out....sounds exactly like what happening...messy though when it does..

She's not blowing smoke or spraying oil out of her exhaust and any of the worn piston stuff....

VolksFolks ·

Yeh Jen, sorry but i dont know where they think piston rings are buggerd, i feel Nathan maybe right, or it could be the crank seal behind the pully, or as happened to my mate it was a cracked case, we wont go there right now..

Good Luck

Andy

jenz58 ·

....no don't go the crack case on me lol

Nath is saying there's a tube near the air filler that probably needs cleaning...sounds too easy 😎

blue ute ·

Hi, I have a set of German 36hp piston rings N.O.S

jenz58 ·

....thanks blue ute but I don't need them now from what I'm learning...but I'll keep you in mind if I do...

Robo ·

Hey Jenz
The vent tube they are talking about is the one on the oil filler. Its the one that goes down through the tin so it dumps on the road. There should be a plastic reed (tip) on the end of it. I took this plastic bit off so it is not restricted, if this is blocked it lets the pressure build up in the crank case and blows the oil past the crank seal, it gets on the pully and throws oil up onto the engine lid. I try not to drive Pige in the rain, so removing the plastic tip is not too much of a worry. moisture dosent get into the engine.
Rob...

vw54 ·

Jen AVWPC should be able to remove the oil filler / breather tube and soak it in kero or petrol to remove all the gunk thats blocking it....

Or take Bel to Michael he can take it off n clean it the same.... that will reduce the crankcase breatheing problems and possible reduce the pressure inside the case and not make it spurt out from behine the crank pully.

jenz58 ·

...I'll make a time to do it next week...but Nath said he'd have a look Sunday for me...thanks Dave

I was looking through my manuals last night to see how you take the tube out...but they don't sseem to say anything about regular maintanance on this...seems to be an oversight if these tubes need regular cleaning...couldn't even find reference to it in my idiots guide :jesus

Maybe it's such as easy task that they think every one knows about??

[Edited on 16-4-2005 by jenz58]

jenz58 ·

Bel's oil breather tube comes from the oil filler and goes straight down through her tin ware...if I unbolt the oil cleaner...is it then easy to get the tube out to clean?

My manuals are really sketchy on it

[Edited on 16-4-2005 by jenz58]

jenz58 ·

OK with Bel's type do I just remove the oil filler and soak the whole thing in kero??? Do I need to replace the gasket under it if I take it apart...they've just replaced it recently for me....It's just that it seems like it will be easy but just want to know now before I unscew it and get myself into trouble

jenz58 ·

OK got it off easy...ran kero down the breather tube and lots of silt came out....should fix it I hope...it didn't have a plug over the end it was open Rob

Robo ·

Sounds like ya solved the problen yourself. I think a glass of red is in order for that effort. Well done!
Rob...

jenz58 ·

Just bought lots more kero so I can soak the tube...didn't have enough before but running it through the tube got rid of sooooo much dirt .... yes a red after I've cleaned Bel up...

vw54 ·

yep give it a good poke...... with a bit of wire coat hanger up the tube to loosen the gunk... it might take several goes... and wash at same time.... just like doing the dishes... YUK.

BUGBOY ·

sound like you know what your doing Jen?
Can I book my car in for next Friday?😉

jenz58 ·

...f##!!#ing can't get the ...f##!##!ing tube back in f#!!# it

BUGBOY ·

How many reds have you had?:duh

vw54 ·

try twisting it one way then the other... it will probally fall in while yr not looking .... is the small tube catching on the tinware hole ???

jenz58 ·

..it just won't go back in...I try in d morn....and hope for best

Robo ·

Ok How did ya go. Should go on easy!
Rob...

vw54 ·

Must have gone on Rob.... she was out n about in Bel today crusing to the Jamboree,,,, n winning trophies YEAH hAR

Robo ·

He He
Another notch on the gun!
Rob...

jenz58 ·

...lol you two....yes she was driving sweet today...and NO oil spurts!!! :bounce:bounce

....honestly where I was trying to put that tube is embarrassing to think about...I think I was trying to clean her up n it getting dark and .......well I was being a girl ...:duh 😀

...well I'm glad she's getting trophies now because there are a couple of nice ones almost finish.....and they will be so awesome... I guess they are modified....but soooooo nice

BUGBOY ·

All fixed?
So I can book my car in again Jen?
Just for a tune and service.

Robo ·

He He
I can just picture ya in a pair of VW overalls!...😀
Rob....

jenz58 ·

....lol...yes I can't wait for the next thing to happen so I can get my tools out....her fuel filter is set up over her dizzy and fuel pump....woven sleeve covered fuel lines...have been told this set up is what can lead to FIRES!!!!!

I have a proper metal tude fuel line...so will have to get my manuals out and see what I can do...should be easy hey??? 😀

Grey 57 ·

hey jen, good to hear your gonna move the filter. Reminds me that I was goinmg to look for that 36hp fuel line. Do that over the weekend for you.

jenz58 ·

Cool thanks Dean....I think I have one attached to a spare fuel pump in my box of trix in the shed....I was collecting fuel pumps at one stage one has the line attached....I'm sure...will let you know if not...it been dark when I get home....will look tomorrow..

I had someone else point it out to me after you on Sunday...made me paranoid a little...was ready to grab the fire extinguisher any minute...I was on alert!!

VolksFolks ·

Last week a mate was having some work done at the VW
Mechanics.

A woman in a real nice little blue beetle came in, introduced herself as Jenny,

She asked for a seven-hundred-ten.
They all looked at each other, and the mechanic asked, "What is a seven-hundred-ten?"

Jen replied, "You know, the little piece in the middle of
the engine. I lost it and need a new one. It had always been
there."

The mechanic gave Jen a piece of paper and a pen and
asked her to draw what the piece looked like.

Jen drew a circle and in the middle of it wrote 710.
He then took her over to another beetle which had the engine lid up and asked, "Is there a 710 on this car ?"
Jen pointed and said, "Of course, its right there."

Sorry Jen i could'nt resist, haha, love ya rearly, Andy

[Edited on 22/4/2005 by VolksFolks]

jenz58 ·

HAHAHA.....just you wait....your turn will cum!!! :cussing😉:P

I know I don't have a 710 part in the middle of my engine....it's to the side SILLY :duh

jenz58 ·

OK....can anyone post a pic of a 36hp engine with the metal fuel line in...do you attach a fuel filter to it...honestly they need to have a simple manual that has this basic stuff for someone like me...they have nothing on the fuel line
