I went to open my garage door the other night after work and this bugga was sitting right on the garage door handle. Dead set shat myself. I had to take a photo of it because no one would have really believe me how big the bastard was.

I think the attachment might work this time. Its been a while but I this bastard is worth showing

was arachnaphobic my whole life till a few weeks ago.. got cured by this "EFT" thing it's different but works. still can't pick them up though! where's the pic??

jenz58 ·

Not me....if they stay far enough away I can tolerate them...would hate to live where they have gaint mean ones...but then again...it's those little ones that seem to carry most nasty venum :o

bigbaja ·

my brother has a bird eating spider in a cage and will get
to about 23cm round and a couple of hundred grams

and we both have snakes that will grow to 11 feet too
terry

Never liked them but tolerated most until...

First night of trip to Queensland. Stopped at my brother's place at Coffs Harbour. Bit twice by a redback, once in foot and one in hand - don't ask!

Spent first night of holidays in Intensive Care and a $450 ambulance ride! Carried on to Queensland the next day in excrutiating pain. The bastard bite hurt for months afterwards.

Ouch...:o

Know someone into spiders...used to always look under the toilet seat and behind doors cos he had a birdeating spider running loose in the flat....never did see it...it mainly lived in the spare bedroom and came out of a night!!!! Poor thing died when the neighbours fumigated...

Starbug ·

i quite like spiders... im thinking about getting a nice big furry tarantula seeing as how my sister is getting a snake, shes severly arachnophobic and im hoping this will help her out.
my parents had a really big huntsman with 3 legs living outside their front door, it would only come out at night because there were heaps of bugs and it didnt have to move far to catch its meals.
first time i saw it i cried for about 2 hours, and then when it died (about 2 months after i first saw it!!) i cried for another 2 hours, then gave it a nice burial in mums herb garden.
ive got a soft spot for the underdog 😀

i wont pick up the really big ones because its too easy to break their legs (very small hands, very big spider!!) but i do like to play with the little ones like jumping spiders and flower spiders.
in summer when the orb weavers are out in the garden, i catch grasshoppers that are snacking on my vege garden and throw them in the webs so the spider gets a good meal.

Robo ·

He He
I thought ya might have been talking about PORSCHE spiders, I really like those!
Rob...

bat69 ·

I got the pitcure now for those how wanted to have look

Starbug ·

ouch! that things HUGE!!!!
good on you for holding on to your lunch!! how close did you get to touching it?

bat69 ·

Do you see it is missing a leg. It fell of when I pick it up.....Then I put the coin beside it. I think that was proberly one of the most stupidest things ive done. But man I got a good photo.

mscabrio ·

The only good spider is a DEAD spider, and then I still don't trust em !!!!

...THANK YOU I was about to cook dinner!!!! :jesus

wacked1 ·

don't like em either

kroozzn63 ·

man i fought a red belly black snake in thongs and shorts no top and a spade handle only it was about 2 meters long and pissed of at my dog ,but when it comes to spiders i cant stand little jumping things that bite and can kill you "little bastards" and no it wasnt a trousers snake...

Grock ·

Why did i do that to myself? I just had to check this thread out. I think those of you who enjoy playing with and spending time with spiders be they pets or otherwise need some sort of help. In reality however it is I who needs help. Would be interested to learn more about this EFT thing you speak of boersch!!! I drop my load whenever i see a spider, even the dead ones. Snakes i can handle! Have only seen one in the last 2 years.

64vwmark ·

That spider would make a really good gear stick knob.

I tried making one once before using fibreglass resin, it didn't work out too good though because something in the resin leached all the colour out of the spider!

Grock ·

hahahaha, albino spider... that would probably be quite interesting to see actually.

Oasis ·

How about this? A camel spider...

Oasis ·

That's two. The bottom one is eating the top one...

Doug Sweetman ·

Yeah, and them things aint really spiders either..... they eat spiders....

Google it, there is some interesting photos around about them.

64vwmark ·

Too big for a gear stick knob! Maybe a hood ornament?................lol

Firstly, That is a gorgeous redback specimen... I don't particularly want to own a spider but they have their place in nature and I think I have a healthy respect 🙂
BTW, about that camel spider/s... I met an Isreali soldier who has seen them (not as big as the pic though). he says thay are mean but mostly stay out of peoples way and NEVER leave you tent/sleeping bag unzipped, that's where you'll find them 🙂
