what a job!
well after using silicon to fit ADR glass to my safaries only to have them crack from being to thick for the frames today i had the lovely task of removing the old glass.
what fun after trying every solvent known to man only to find nothing seems to desolve silicon my only option was to brake the glass out,not as easy as you would think lamanated safty glass is tough stuff
it took three good swings with the hammer before it would even brake .
i had to smash the glass as much as i could then pour thinners all over the broken glass to weaken the plastic laminate ,then chop around the frames with a axe until i could seperate them
then i had to use a small screwdriver to scrape under the silicon and remaining glass.
but its done now with only a few glass spninters in my hands
im ready to instal my new creative glass and seals imported for me by roy from classic vw pacific
thanks roy

to piss the plastic laminate off, pour a little metho in the cracks and light it up.
only use a little. it melts the laminate goodly.

thanks for the tip heltaskelta but hopefully i will never have to do it again

so how and when did it crack?...like how long before it cracked and why?
kombibob ·
they cracked because i used the min req adr glass wich is about 6.5mm and the groove in the frames is about 7mm and less in the corners so i couldnt use any rubber seals only silicon
the combination of tripple laminate glass having no flex ,the tight fit and the poor cut from prot#*a auto glass resulted in the glass cracking
they now have the much thinner glass from creative and the original rubber seals
should no longer be a problem as the glass now has a fair bit of flex
