vwtyp2 ·

hey all,
I've been thinking about selling my V6 bay to get a T4.
just curious to see if anyone had a T4 they wanted to swap?
has engineers certs. for engine conversion.
very solid, straight, and shiny bus.
great tow car.
pretty good 1/4 mile times.
here's a pic

type_one ·

What's your out right price?

vwtyp2 ·

$10,000

vwtyp2 ·

here's some more pics.

vwtyp2 ·

17" ROH adrenaline
has had new rubber since this pic.

vwtyp2 ·

this is what makes it go so well.
has engineers cert's too.

vwtyp2 ·

rad. sits nicely tucked away underneath.

vwtyp2 ·

the cockpit.
deluxe dash with trip speedo and deluxe steering wheel.
VDO mp3 player.

vwtyp2 ·

some comfy seats.

david777 ·

Can you give more details on the engine you have installed?

vwtyp2 ·

it's a 3.8 litre v6 efi from a vp commodore

Brad ·

does the rad have a shroud or any ducting ?
That is good buying for $10 000

Does it still have the Custom Box ?? If so what ratios ?

vwtyp2 ·

yes, both a shroud and ducting. and a thermo fan on the rad too.
Yes, still has the custom box.
std 1st and 2nd
Albins std ratio 3rd
Albins 0.70 4th
Albins Super diff.

Brad ·

man that thing would be worth more than $10 000 in parts ..

Good buying

vwtyp2 ·

the gearbox cost me $3k.

no I won't part it out.

Fossil ·

no takers on this that's on and off the for sale or swap - :duh

vwtyp2 ·

we gould do the maths.

1: find a good solid straight kombi. or
1a: get a Konbi that's not so solid of straight and spend heaps on bodywork.
2: get a nice shiny paintjob.
3: get a v6 engine or similar alternative.
4: fit aforementioned engine yourself, or pay to get it fitted.
5: get it all engineered.
6: put some nice big 17" rims on it.
7: get a gearbox built to handle the torque of the engine.

let's stop there before we put people off doing there own conversions.

vwtyp2 ·

bump

phatrat ·

I dont think you need to convince anyone, that it's xcellent vaule for $$$. I would think ppl dont have the $$$ or perhaps not after that type of VW...

...and yes I would snap it up in a heart beat...

vwrx ·

want to sell the dash ?

Chewy ·

Hey Vwtyp2
theres a 411 in this months just cars.. looks pretty tidy.

vwtyp2 ·

want to sell the dash ?
ha ha, you couldn't afford it. I want too much for it. 🙂 😀

Hey Vwtyp2
theres a 411 in this months just cars.. looks pretty tidy.

it's a T4 I'm after, although a type 4 would be pretty cool, I need a van though.

Chewy ·

my bad

vwtyp2 ·

not a prob. those forks came out o.k. :thumb

kombi_kid ·

can u please send me more pics to kombikid@tpg.com.au more of interior etc
cheers
rhys

pmgbus ·

if i had a spare 10k to park, i'd buy it as its a bloody good tow car, 110 up and down hill with heavy tandem trailer and splitty on back, and when some tosser in a magna gives u shit, put right foot down and see u laters ville! before i knew it, i was doing 140 and wasn't even trying..sorry dan but the temptation was too great!

vwtyp2 ·

😉 bump.

old pic with the BRM's

greedy51 ·

why do you want a t4 why not a t3 just wondering

vwtyp2 ·

could be tempted towards a T3 if the right one came along.
a Tri Star, or a Carat or something 😉
I've driven both, and the T4 in my opinion drives nicer, but is a bit boring to drive though.
the T3 looks more like the "traditional" shape kombi, and not like every other van on the road, as does the T4.

vwrx ·

buuuump

vwtyp2 ·

.

hallph ·

Looks to be a bargain!
Pity i don't have the money, or the need for another bus.

Dub-Buggier ·

Mate if you were sellign in another 4 years when i have a little money stashed up id snap it up asap but sorrely no.

hope it goes to someone who knows how to treat a performance machine.... without remorse.

you have done a great job.
cheers
dub

vwtyp2 ·

this is one of my fave pics.
not sure who took it, cos I was too busy driving.
for those interested, I will drop the price to $8000 for the bus on standard rims.
Then you can get some of those sexy looking rims that volksfolks is selling and give it a new look.

VolksFolks ·

Wooohaa, i am getting itchy, looking for a daily driver, said i'd never have a bay again! seeing thugh its got all those smashing mods i am a little taken, i have a car on egay at the mo, will see how it goes,

thanks for the plug, i will have a think bout it..

Andy

sorry man, any pics of the inside the rear etc, hood lining, cheers

sales@volksfolks

oh and does it have a heater, in TASSIE we need them haha

[Edited on 22/6/2005 by VolksFolks]

vwtyp2 ·

I'll take some interior pics and post em up.
the heaters work awesome. they're now water operated.
there's a hot air box between the front seats with a fan.
warms the whole van up in about 5 mins.

vwtyp2 ·

here's some inside pics.
sorry they're not too great.
it's night time and raining.

vwtyp2 ·

headliner

Brad ·

After driving around 2000 km towing a bloody big trailer with a lot of weight I would have to say if you want to tow heavy stuff then a V6 bay is a better way to go than a subie .....

Cheap to at this price

VolksFolks ·

Looks like i may pass mate, i have thought about it and may go for a T4 or push the boat out T5..i have put the word out my end, someone will buy this car, such good value!

cheers Andy

vwtyp2 ·

cheers Brad, Yes it does tow exceptionally well.

No probs Andy, when it does sell, I'll be calling on you for some wheels for my next Bus.
:kiss

squizy ·

Can someone please buy my Cabriolet.....🙁

Oh...and bump too.

vwtyp2 ·

whack it on carsales Squiz,
a lot more people are having success on there.

Alex Holzl ·

still got it? where about are you?

bus914 ·

what computer does it run?

vwtyp2 ·

yep, in Adelaide.

standard vp auto ecu

Alex Holzl ·

is the VP a ecotech motor?

vwtyp2 ·

no.

vwombat ·

Man - this is madness. Why so cheap? Why no interest? Where the hell are we???

Why is this looking tempting to an aircooled purist??? I'm losing it......!

vwtyp2 ·

you get all the style* of a Kombi
and the power of a modern car.
what more could you want.

*style. that certain something they stopped building into cars in 1979.

t2 ·

a v6 conversion through any vw place would cost 8k alone ,if not it wouldnt be to much cheaper, i dont know how well it goes for temp etc , but a bus with power and no stupid radiator up front that looks great , the interior looks good aswell. not considering buying just impressed with the 8k price tab , suprised its still for sale. maybe its to cheap put the price up and you might sell it

vwtyp2 ·

no worries.
price is now $15,000 :P

shaginwagin ·

Yo,

Have sent you a PM regarding your fine Bay

Cheers

vwtyp2 ·

cheers, have replied.
👍

vwtyp2 ·

hey, got full roadworthy on it now.
Legally registered and complianced as a 6 cyl. 8 seater.
Insurance is a breeze, and transferring to interstate rego too.

frenzix ·

ill swap it for an 87 Range rover, duel fuel, 3.5v8, new tyres, long rego, extractors, exahust.

🙂

vwtyp2 ·

email me some pics.

franko ·

just out of interest, what sort of fuel economy does it get with that motor? cant be any worse than standard, or is it? and what sort of k's has the motor done? thanks

pmgbus ·

320km towing another kombi, about 400 not towing!

vwtyp2 ·

did an economy test this week.
$10 did 100km around town.

vwtyp2 ·

thanks for the pics Tim.
I'm definately considering it.

vwtyp2 ·

new improved lower price.
$8000 with wheels with standard box

vwtyp2 ·

that price is for 17" alloys and standard box.
for standard wheels, and standard box, I'd take $7k

fuel is in S.A. price for ULP (about 110 c/l)
Not interested in trades, unless it's a T3 or T4 van sorry.

I've had a Seat Cordoba before, and they are a great car.

Fossil ·

Man I thought this would have sold by now 🤓

vwtyp2 ·

me too.
maybe I'll try carpoint or carsales or unique cars.

frenzix ·

Hiya vwtyp2, if there are any problems with this bus can you please email me them... Cheers Tim
tim@frenzix.com

fozee ·

$7k for a converted bay with stock box and rims??!!!!

That is fantastic!!!

vwtyp2 ·

there are no problems.
It had a full roadworthy inspection on the 8th of june.
It has now got compliance plates and everything for the v6 conversion, and also registered as an 8 seater.

last night, we had the trailer on the back with 6 mountain bikes and 6 guys in the van, and still dragged off an EF ford.
The look on the guys face was priceless as all yhe guys in the back waved to him, and better still when he saw we had a trailer on too.

Fossil ·

Man where's a kombi lover for a good bay

vwtyp2 ·
