Trying to re-locate a special beetle

My hairdresser's husband (Tony) sold a special bug in SYD about 4 years ago.. he built it himself and wants to try and track it down in the hope of buying it back.. here are the specs (as I have been told 3rd hand)

56 Body (Maroon)
70 Floorpan (IRS, balljoint)
2.0L worked, fuel injected motor

car is (was) in great condition when sold..
This bug sounds a little different so maybe someone knows where it is.. I said I would put the word out..

I'll try for some pictures.. However if you recognise the build, let me know.. i am guessing this car would stand out..
