He did it, probably cause he did and like it. I think comments what people think about other peoples cars should be kept in your head. In fact I think that it looks quite trick.

I find this spelling: "VOLKSWAGON" offensive... does that count?

Thats quite cute in a weird sort of way ????
How can they call it a VW when it is cross bred with a Subaru and a Honda ????
Maybe it should be called a Hondaruwagen ?

u got to hand it to him, at least he finished a pretty strange project, how many people start shit like this and it sits in the shed for years, respect to him for that.

I take my hat off too him. The bonnet looks nuts with the inlets grafted in. Sure the car is getting rare and people are paying more money for them, but why have something you dont like. I wouldnt mind a spin around the block on a 30degree day :thumb

Ok, I take your point,
now where have those torana tailights and gas axe gone?.....If I can just cut the roof off that samba it'll look much better....
Come off it, if we can get upset about rice boys and hondas then we can about conversions like this too.
I don't mind the subie, or the convertable top, but the mesh in the front and ferrari ducts in the rear guards? It's what 1980s nightmares are made off.

I know I am gunna sound stupid, but I think it looks cool.
When i say cool I mean cool in a way that I like it but would never do it to mine.:duh:duh:duh:thumb

Glass houses man......

Yeah I like it too. Not all that often you see a nice Type 3 cut job. Looks nice around the front window, and the rollbars are trick.

Really? I don't see any nasty holes cut into the front of mine.
Ok, yes, it's got a great big scoop on the back guard, but I haven't messed with the classic lines. Instead I tried to go with them.
And as I said before, I don't mind the chop or the subie, it's just the cheap and nasty styling...and painting it red doesn't help either.
Only a few weeks back everyone else wanted to bag that 70's show car (oval with the monster body and wire wheels) for sale on EBay, well, I didn't mind that, wild, but really different. But this one...well here's where I draw the line.

How about this poor engine lid?

I'm so offended, how dare you insult my car, what would you know about...bla bla bla, :P
At last some one has enough backbone to admit what they really think.
Ok, so you don't like the bootlid. That's you opinon and you are entitled to it.
I think it's a statement personally. I also think it was a good way to connect the new identity of the car with it's old identity. Added to this, it provided a much more aethetically pleasing way of covering the radiator than anything else we could come up with at the time. All the other ideas had the back of the car looking like a large stainless fridge (my wife cried when she saw that mockup) or an overgrown chookshed. I still think the bootlid looks better. Other people agree with me.
But my taste aside, it's shape and styling fits with the styling of the rest of the car. I don't think the same can be said for the flanks and bonnet of the notch mentioned above. nuf said.
