well not a rocket...worked out that it was the accelerator link, needed to be adjusted to keep the rpms up inbetween gears, etc, drives wonderful now, steering is tight and brakes are sweet as. i think now she deserves a stereo, i have done the right thing and spent the money on making her pretty and mechanically sound, now she gets tunes!!
has anybody had problems with cd players skipping in bumpy buses!!??

Most modern CD players are designed to take a fair bit of abuse i think.

I have a Clarion in my car thats a year or so old, and i live in the country with potholes and everything, rarely skips. And the notch needs new shock absorbers :P

HaHa the accelerator pedal trick, the same happened to me, was only getting half throttle, now you will notice the fuel go a lot quicker,

the only reason I like me JVC unit is that is should not be working. It's been bashed around countless times, been covered in mud and muddy water multiple times and had so much water come in the front bonnet at high speed that it overflowed through the dash (over and past the player), through the speedo (there is mud in it) onto my lap. It still plays CDs ok, but skips a tad more than it used to and won't do the radio anymore (don't listen to it anyway) and sometimes spits CD's out and wont play them and goes funky. it shouldn't be working...

None that I can remember

interesting volksfolks, the mechanic reckons i should see better efficiency after he retimed etc, but i certainly see your point, i also had a new fuel gage put in the dash that works now so you are right i will see the petrol go quicker!!
thanks for the advice on the cd players

Do you remember those portable 7 inch vinyl record players (or am I showing my age), you pushed the record in like you do with a CD, they jumped like crazy in a bus, but the modern good quality CD players are ok. TV screens Matt???
