imagine a brand new split style kombi, it would look fantastic.

Now that's being imaginative

I was happy when they announced they were not going to make them. When VW America were asking the public, I even sent feedback to them that it was as ugly as a hatful of arseholes.
Good decision was made.

hows about mine!

another shot

HaHa i wish..

last, last i heard of this car it was in production in the Canadiam market only and VW was not producing anymore, as they were too costly to build, canna figure, nice though.....
I like the concept, particularly the dual cab!!
Just needs a little design tweaking around the nose for me!
I think its got potential and its certainly different from anything else around!!
KruizinKombi ·
The concept was good, a retro kombi. The actuality however, was severly lacking. I'm with Yogie; I'm glad they chose not to produce it. It's a pathetic attempt to jump on the retro-wagen. I mean, it doesn't even look retro, just ugly.
Canni. ·
Definately needed more work lol..they were getting closer with the cab...
Read in the paper it was decided not to produce it as they thought to many people wouldn't like the styling..(apart from US market)

....the front is too much like other vans....it's not straight up....guess they are doing the aerodynamic things but it looks wrong
country dubber ·

frenzix ·
your country buggy does!
kombibob ·

Jen, The design plans and engineering have changed so much in the last few years for vans and people movers, that the drivers seat has to be behind the centre of the front wheel, therefore making it real hardto get a more realistic Kombi look....
N!

hey guyz,
i think they would make more money buying old busses, doing them up like new motor gearbox stereo all that and selling them again!! but then where would the fun be there, nothing like fixing a vw
63Splitty ·
It doesn't look that bad...it sort of grows on ya the more you look at it!
Jeez imagine if they did a remake of the P76.
bajachris88 ·
I dont mind the look of it , but if only they kept the trademark Kombi round front lights, then it would look cool.

theyre pretty good retro looks, love the twin cab" but tell us the price son"
knowing vws current prices their going to b over priced like the beetle was .
im planning to own one when they are out i think 2007 i was told
mscabrio ·
The new beetle is sooooooooo not over priced !!!!!
I too, did think that once upon a time and it stopped me buying one for 3 years. I had my eye on them since 2000 but didn't get one until the cabrio came out in 2003 and believe me it is worth more than I paid for it. When compairing cabrios, the beetle wins hands on for value and features.
You pay for what you get for. You send the big money on a VW and get something that is rock solid or you can buy a cheapy Hyundai and get a crappy throw away car ?
bajachris88 ·
phhh! cheap hyundai. My dad smashed into one of those in a round about in his old kingswood. he rear-ended it. Totally trashed the hyundai's back, and all he got on the front of his kingswood was a scatch. Those hyundai's are so cheap.
mscabrio ·
That's the point Chris ! They are meant to get young people into new cars, and when they either get some more money they upgrade, usually to a holden or ford and then when they grow up and get more sense they then upgrade to a euro car !
country dubber ·
Hey 63splitty. Dont knock the P76 unless you owned one. I had the V8, and it was a great machine! Way a head of the ford and Holden of the time. And yeh, I think they look great also.

dude.... that is the point of modern cars these days... its called crumple zones... unfortunately it means that even small accidents there is usually a minimum of $2000 damage done.... older cars would walk away with scratches or bent bumper that could be hammered straight again... but a high speed accident in an older car usually meant death.
blutopless2 ·
oh.. and the new kombi.... crap front... but liked the concept.
