its a trap for young splitty players....barndoor refers to the rear hatch area..in 54 and ealier busses the rear door was one ...eg you lifted the hatch it exposed the engine fuel tank and spare tyre..the rear window is fixed and part of the body..after the barndoor there were two seperate doors at the back..one into the engine and the other into the cargo area..hpoe this helps you to identify a barndoor when you see one. cheers dsk steve

VolksFolks ·

the opening rear hatch was available as an option on some models.so these barndoors didnt have access into the bus from the back, did the window pop out at all like a safari?
it was a hatch containing the window, as on later vans.

From ch.number 20-05535 until 20-012342 there were no logo and no rear window.
From ch. number 20-012343 until 20-117902 all barndoors had a rear window
Go to the Danish site Andy posted it's really good.....click on pictures that come up under details & changes....Great site

it is a barny. note how the engine lid goes all the way up to the "belt" line of the car.so volksfolks first small picture could still be a barndoor?
