nose cone swap

I've swapped a split kombi nose cone onto my 1300 gearbox so it'll fit in my oval, has anyone done the same and needed to adjust thier shifting forks? It seems diffucult to get into 3rd and 4th. Reverse is just as hard, and coming out of reverse is a bitch.

Mien kaumpf....

Should not require adjustments to the selectors.
Did you use same hockey stick?
Is the hockey stick binding in the nose cone?
Did you check the face of the nose cone for bearing wear?

Different hockey stick - the vw mechanic put on a different nose cone..
It's not binding - I cleaned it up myself and got rid of any gunk in it. moves very freely.
nope - I'm hoping the mechanics did..

i'm not much help am I?

Undo the flexible coupling and see if you can change gears. The dimple on the hockey stick may not be in the correct position?

The mech's purposly used a different bolt to secure the coupling to the hockey stick because the dimple didnt line up with the coupling correctly. It has to be a little off center, otherwise, I can't get into 3rd and 4th at all...

Its easier to weld on the later type mount and much betetr in the long run... but you now have the new Kombi Cone fitted.

Try it by hand or with a set of vice grips attached

no luck by hand.. i'll try it with vice grips and something to prtect the hockey stick...

I put L bug gearbox in Sbug. Used Sbug nose cone but L bug hockey stick. Worked ok.
