As with my ragtop sunroof, I need to resell a rebuilt 1776 engine and twin webers that I bought recently. While the engine would be great in my car, I am forced to sell due to financial reasons and will have to make do with my existing twinport 1600.
I bought the engine recently from Grey57 (Dean) who can vouch for the engine. The engine has not been installed or run sine I purchased it.
I want what I pad for the engine and webers ($1750) which is a bargain considering what you would pay otherwise. Engine doesnt include and electrics, ie starter motor, alternator, distributor etc, however this obviously can be transferred from your existing engine.
A link to the previous add for this engine is as follows:
I am located in Hughesdale, Melbourne (near Chadstone) and can be phoned on 0408137017.
Cheers,
Steve

Just some more info on the motor as it came to hand (thanks Dean)
The cam is standard.
The crank is standard (but reground)
Pistons/barrells etc are brand new.
Carbs are 36ICT's (jetted for a 1776)
Only selling to finance the resto of the square it was intended for. I know I'll kick myself after it's sold, but as I need the dough what can I do!

I should also add that this engine is built from a universal case, and is currently set up for a beetle (and not a type 3). However it can easily be changed to a type 3 setup.

im very interested, if its not gone in the next few weeks (doubt that!!) then its going to be a serious consideration!
but i have to see how the finances are holding up, and how i could get it up here from melb!!

Still have the engine. At the moment I have one other guy in Adelaide who is very interested (also waiting for finance to come through).
I am happy to hold the engine for anyone who is definitely interested (with a small deposit) so you're welcome to let me know.
Cheers,
Steve

Steve,
I know it's been a few weeks but is the engine still for sale?? If so how much are you asking for it?
Thanks,
John

Hi John,
Sorry but I have decided to hang onto the engine for my new project. Sorry to dissapoint however I forgot to add this to my post, as I thought the thread was dead and buried.
Cheers,
Steve

Change of mind again (how unusual).
I am considering a suby engine conversion for my ghia now so if anyone wants the engine (with twin webers) it's still available at the bargain price of $1750. This is exactly what I paid for it and I can't afford to take a loss, so the price is firm.
This is a great price for a great, reco 1776 and whoever buys the engine can not possibly be dissappointed.

Steve what are the webbers? Have they been jetted for the 1776 and run on it or did you pick them up after you got the engine?
stephenianjames ·
Sorry for the late reply..I tried earlier and the reply never went through.
The Carbs are 36ICT's (jetted for a 1776) which I believe came of another 1776 motor. I bought the carbies and motor together, with the motor having been built for Dean, and Dean sourcing the carbs seperately.
I will probably not end of going a suby conversion however I need the money so the engine is still for sale. I wont be able to get stuck into the KG for quite a while so someone else may appreciate the use of the motor in the meantime.
C'mon people!!!..this is a bargain for a recoed 1776 with twin webers.
bond ·
will you sell the longblock and webbers seperately?
stephenianjames ·
I will consider it..I have a bloke interested in the carbs. Are you interested in the carbs or longblock?
