Spent the day choking on dust at Richmond today. There was an R32 Golf belting around the paddock. As if you would do that! It had a tyre roll off the bead. The stupid things DONT have a spare of any kind. Not even a cheese cutter space saver. How dumb is that!

WHere abouts in Richmond? right near the air base there? Was Lower Blue mountains Car club running it or CACA?

I was at a Motorkhana there earlier this year and it was so dusty I had to slow down to see where I was going on the last few runs. At one point I could hear my tyres sqealing on the hard packed dirt.

Yeah the FIAT club grounds, next door to the RAAF.
It was the volvo car club running it.... only 2 or 3 volvos running though. That was my second time there, first was in april. Yes it was very dusty towards the end, but not as bad as April. And also had a lot to do with a Datsun driver being a dick. I tried to talk to him and tell him he would actually be faster if he laid off the gas pedal a bit and it would be easier on the track, but quote "I just like the noise". I should hav ebooted him out maybe, but I am just too damn sweet. :kiss Its quite a good day out. $25 for 8 different courses. Quite a few juniors run. Good cheap driving lessons.

I ran there about 2 years ago as part of bug-in. But we had 3 inches of mud 🙁

I've never actually competed in one. Would really like to give it a go, thinking maybe I should hire a nice shorty wheelbase car for the next one.

I had a good time. It's really fun, and there's nothing to hit either.

Theres some lucky people in the volvo club who dont need to torture their own cars. The first one had passat, late merc, audi, falcons. The falcons come from the company car pool, but the others are car dealers so they just get a demo, or whatever was the most interesting trade on the friday.

The missus would shoot me if I ran the lancer, and the kombi wouldnt be the best car to win with. And if you go to http://www.drivenow.com.au/ you can pick up small cars for under $40. Take a roll of tape, tape up the handbrake button... instant racecar. noooice

I reckon something like a corolla auto, that way you could just concentrate on getting the turns and handbrake right.

mmm, thrashing hire cars 😎
