Beerboy ·
VWCOOL had a set on here for sale.
I might be able to help too but they are in melbourne
what you looking to pay for the set?
EgeWorks ·
After a day of calling around Prosche places I came up with some good luck. No need to buy anything more for the moment. Thanks for the help Beerboy, I'm in melb by the way🙂
Bizarre ·
Are these for you???
Beerboy ·
glad you got it sorted dealers were probably the best way forward for one.
EgeWorks ·
These aren't for me unfortunately🙁 Oh how I would love them though. It's for my girl's bug. One of her rims was buckled beyond repair.
I ended up finding a place called Parts Heaven that deals in Porsche wrecks as well as many other cars (mostly Jap imports) and they had a 928 from Japan that had a blown engine so they were parting it out. $200 for a rim. Scored well considereing the other place I found wanted $425 for one.
You can get a whole set for around $600, but what would I have done with the other three?
BTW: still interested in a space saver if anyone has one?
Bizarre ·
For the space saver you have buckleys trying to buy one.
You are better off contacting Steve C and seeing how he made one.
I "think" it is easier if you use a standard steel rim and then get a new centre welded in that has been plazma/laser cut to a porsche pattern - ala Sunaraysia style of wheel.

Hi,
Space Saver is an easy find, just ask for a steel spare from Sydney American Imports here in Sydney.
I have bought four off them for pushing the car around on and in future for burnouts.
If you want to narrow it just have the welds machined off on a lathe and then re weld a beetle outer then you can have a 15 inch by 4 inch spare it will even fit in the spare wheel well.
Cheers,
Calcool

or get an alloy one for the weight saving ;-)
why will a space saver with a 165x15 not fit in a beetle spare wheel wheel. mine does?!
am I missing something
Special Air Service ·
Calcool, how much did they charge for a "steel spare"? Last time I rang them they wanted a fortune for the bastards. And what widths are they?
Cheers
SAS
Calcool ·
Hi SAS,
I bought mine for $100 a piece as I said I did not want the factory space saver tyre you know those weird looking units. I was only after the rim. They are 15 by 6.
Beerboy, They will fit in the spare wheel well with a 165 especially if it has never been in a front ender.
Cheers,
Calcool
