Does this sound right:

"VW Beetle 1967 (Super Bug), good interior, twin exhaust, flares, fishtail, sports steering wheel, all new electrics, RXO-425, $1250 or near offer KAPUNDA 0402-57 7726."

I thought the super bug was released from 1970s and later, not 1967. hmm, possibly refering to the engine maybe, but odd.

Plz, if im wrong, do correct me, but its just confusing saying 1967 super bug. Certainly seems like a bargin though and sounds very good, just caught my attention and something didn't seem right.

Boozer ·

its not a superbug as far as I know. The ad is wrong.

boersch ·

sometimes people call 67 onwards bugs superbugs because of the different bonnet etc but officially its only 71 and onwards i think

barls ·

the supers ran from late 71 on but were divided in to a couple of different models, the sbug (1302) lbug (1302s and 1303) there was even differences in the design of each

Anthiron ·

if its a 67 then it cannot be a super bug. as barls said.

71-72 = 1302 super (flat windscreen, 3 bolt struts)

73-75? = 1303 super (curved windscreen, 2 bolt struts)

True, thought something seemed a lil' odd with it.

Probably refering to a 1600 type 1 engine in it or something, cause apparently that came out with the super bugs too. (I thought i read that somewhere)

Thanks all for clarifying, was just a little confused :duh

barls ·

actually the other bugs from the same time as the supers were the standards and most of them were 1300cc and 1500cc. there were 1600s before the supers but they werent available in this country at the same time.

Che Castro ·

Haha it comes with a fishtail. I thought you had to provide these yourself 😀

D'ya reckon they might mean whale tail? I though whales were mammals....
