Geez that's nice..buy it Dean! You can always have the car retrofitted with a joystick so you dont ned your legs to drive the thing..it would be worth the pain.

isn't $15k a bit steep for a kit car?

Ages ago and I mean ages ago when i new nothing about VW,s I had a look over this verrry same car with my the girlfriend who thought having one would be cool. Can't remeber to much other than the guy was a bit of a jerk. He said that lots of the car was original but it looked a bit shabby to me and that was over 10 years ago. The asking price was a mear $35 000.
Id say that $15000 is over priced unless some work has been done.

How is that any different to any other used car salesman?
I'd say this guy is just a wholesale seller and actually has no idea about specifics.
Based on the age of this car I'd doubt very much it's a platinum either.
And immaculate? It looks mouldy to me.

Sold for $16,100. Bargain IMHO.

The kits for speedsters are pretty expensive. Ive had a look and it was 24k for just the fibreglass body (nothing else) which was not painted or fitted with anything, just the absolute shell. And this was an aussie supplier.
I have found cheap ones else where over the internet, but they are from US and mexico, and i doubt it would comply to our aussie road regulations/design rules. NZ had one as well, but they were the same suppliers as that aussie manufacturer that i mentioned, and are expensive too (in my opinion for just a plain kit).
You can get a fully constructed kit ready for bolt to the chassis and just drive out for 40k ($39,900 anyways).
So for 15k for a fully constructed kit replica is quite cheap in my opinion. 😀

gotta say teh bloke seemed sincere. he had a fair bit of interest from all ovr the place, and said to me from teh outset that the most would win.
good luck i suppose to the bloke who got it.
