Exhaust Gasket

Hi,
I'm trying to change an exhaust flange gasket on an 84 caravelle. What should an exhaust gasket be made of?

My blown gasket is sort cardboardy bu thte other two that came off with the exhaust section are metal with some type of fibro coating. I'm assuming normal gasket stuff would possibly butn under heat????

duno bout ur car, but the gaskets on a type 4 air cooled motor has a peice of something (maybe fibro) inside two peices of metal. It squishes into shape and seals. I would expect an exhaust gasket not to burn, if it burns then your going to have a huge exhaust leak. Im sure you will find what your after if you visit repco or something like that just take in the old ones.
