Hi all
Since the new "Ultima" board came along, i've had a lot of trouble reading the forums...
I have cataracts in my eyes and i find bright colours with dark text very hard to read, and after 5-10 mins my eyes start to water leading onto a headache..
The old board had a nice dark colour scheme which relieved this considerably..
Can we have a theme like that again? ie dark colours with white text? It would save me alot of agony when reading my favourite BB!!

im opposite...
i like really lite colors (read...WHITE) with dark writing...
i know its a pain mods....the pink is really nice...just hard on my eyes when reading the post...so please...are there nemore choices...like white with light grey?

Sorry, BTW "HATE" is a very strong word.
Perhaps Andy or Brad have slaved for days with colour swatches and glossy magazines to come up with these schemes? You've now gone and dashed their boyish dreams of becoming interior designers. Shame on you!
Maybe they're just so far ahead of fashion, that we'll all just have to wait and catch up? Then we can say - "Yeah, I've been using THOSE colours for years now" to our friends and smile knowingly.

I'll find a dark color scheme for you folks who don't like a lot of contrast.
I find lighter color schemes work better for me as I work for long periods with LCDs during the day and then some more at night. I find low contrast color schemes (like various shades of gray with a darkish background) illegible and very difficult on the eyes.
Given this, you should probably try a yellow text on blue background theme. I don't know of any right now.

humm theres another post by one of the mods
saying how the last couple of weeks the forum has been a delight to visit no aggro (i agree)
wonder if the colour scheme has something to do
with this, its not a far fetched scenario you know
colour does affect ppl in certain ways
blue=calming
pink =upbeat
green=mellow

I find black text on a white background best. I know it's "boring" but it's the best possible contrast and therefore the easiest to read. (white text on black background has the same contrast but is not as easy to read because the text seems "thinner").
This current theme (the blue one) has alternating rows of light blue and dark blue background. The dark blue is too dark for my liking, the contrast between the text and the dark blue is not very good.
vanderaj, here is a very useful tool for calculating the contrast between two colours. It also tells you if the contrast conforms to W3C guidelines (although remember that smaller text sizes such as on this site require more contrast to be readable). http://juicystudio.com/services/colourcontrast.php

why don't we just have a few colour schemes in the profile options part so that people can have whatever colour scheme they wish????
that way BEB can have her black words on grey background and Josie can have her dark background and white words? and i can have my LSD colours with neon red words? (joking) :P

I've found that highlighty txt in different colours on the dark background looks very perdy :sandrine

Yes things have been very peaceful around here lately...if not near dead at time though...we seem to have quietened down in general
Even in BA people are not being anywhere near as naughty anymore...it's all out of our systems I think ... 😊

black writing on whitish grey will do me too,as the darker shades of the two colours is too dark for me
