thursday the 14th while working late at work some twit while parking next to me (i think it was a stupid fellow staff member). drove into my carpark space and hit the side of my car denting the front drivers sdie hubcap and tyre guard. no note was left on the car nor anything mentioned to me. slept very fitfully last night and was extremely angry and today all i wanted to do was cry.
can this be fixed at a reasonable price?
if so where?
I am in brisbane on the southside.
Is custom road works a good place to start?
if so are they open on saturdays?
see pics of damage below.

Thank god for pre-war designs. Toss the guard get a newy or a good second hand. Paint her up, a replacement cap and you're done...
saintlywhitetigeress ·
will that cost more or less then fixing it?
HotRodMatt ·
Heaps less than beating, bogging AND then having to paint the sucker...
saintlywhitetigeress ·
where would i get a second hand guard from?
LUFTMEISTER ·
if yours is a 68 model, import advantage had some front guards they were clearing out a month or so ago. Give them a ring(yellow pages) Will be lot easier to prime and paint a straight guard than to repair a bent one.+ cheaper. looks like a bull bar scrape, I would be checking the other cars in the area for corresponding damages and leaving them a note saying it is an offence to leave the scene of an accident without settlement.

saintly my darl u are not having a good run r u?
ok, give details of what year it is, and i mite be able to help. I have a few excess guards downstairs but i need to know what it is...
then u can take them away and get them primed and painted
SOz...just checked is a 74...i think i have 70 standards...so will check for sure tomorrow for u oknn[ Edited on 15-7-2005 by bugeyedbabe ]

Bloody ars%$#*&^
Why can't PPL just do the right thing and admit it and offer to pay for the damage, and an apoligy would be good too! Cheer up, I hope you have a win on lotto or something!
Rob...

i agree robo. considering it was possible a fellow employee which annoys me more. thanks bugeyedbabe i have sent u a u2u. i am not having a good run at all. now i have a dent to fix as well as new rear brakes to get as well. there goes my overtime from this week. thanks guys you are great

...getting a new guard sounds the best option....you should be able to get a nice second hand one easy....post a guard wanted in the Buy, Swap n Sell section for parts you're sure to get replies
It is a bumber what happened....we all dread that sort of thing happening
Our rides do cost us a bit...just spent $900 on getting the piston barrels and pistol rings done...there goes any holiday plans for a whole 🙁
barls ·
that sucks the big one but on the up side all rear guards up to 73 are the same shape, could even be later but not sure

How big is the carpark where you work? can you wander about and check out the other cars for damage? If you are lucky they may have scraped their car on the rim of the wheel and caused decent marks that you could match up.
I have to do a similar repair to a VW that my brother reversed into.
The damage was smaller than yours but the quote for repairs was over $800. That was mainly labour from teh panel beaters to remove the guard and replace it later. To get the painting done was only about $200. I think I have found a good guard for $50, get it painted and I will fit the bloody thing for free. (Mind you I think the woman who owns the VW is taking my borther for a ride as she has now claimed that her steering is out of alignment as well)
So my advice would be to get a second guard (and hubcap) get the guard painted and replace it ratehr than go through getting it bashed out and filled etc.

what a rick, (insert silent p in the front!) hehehe
saintlywhitetigeress ·
thanks h.
huge thing though, the person i suspect "apparently" couldn't drive his car to work saturday or sunday. cause he "supposedly" ran into the back of a van on saturday morning. his car is apparently "written off" but "fixable" (in his words) and he has to pay a $1000 excess. i think personnally that this is a load of cods wollop and he is lieing so that he doesn't have to own up to what he did. what a loser!!! (and i am being nice and trying to use my words instead of swearing)

if the a/hole is fair dinkkum flush him out by asking for his details so the police can go around and inspect his vehicle as they are doing this on behalf of the insurance company as 'hit and runs are illegal' he can be also held accountable for his actions. it may pay to whip round and check out the damage and chat to his parents (if the baby still lives at home) and explain the deal.. reasonable ppl usually understand..
plus it maybe a good idea to give freddo a call from backstage/lighting as he is a copper, he may know of some ideas to find out if this is your man and the go him through the insurance company, as he will then have to pay..
too frigen bad if the moron has to pay 1 gorilla for excess, why should you suffer a broken beetle for his useless parking techinques.. hey?
don't let em get away with it A...
the written off spiel sounds like crap anyway, so i suppose he hit another "red" car as well... bull sh%t..
sorry A but i cant stand losers that wont pay for damage they caused... 😬
saintlywhitetigeress ·
thanks h
will do and yes the person in question still lives at home and his mummy thinks that he can do no wrong
h ·
yeah give the loser what he deserves.. (as long as you properly identify him as the criminal in question)
barls ·
its great fun to go through the small debts and get the sherif to serve it at work just for you ammusement.
pete wood ·
if you are sure it's him, tell your insurance company and get them to chase him down. insurance companies are nasty pieces of work when it comes to chasing things up. they don't like to lose a dollar, so they'll chase him hard.
