Splits are NOT rare

https://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/threads/41788/splits-are-not-rare

57kombi ·

I just thought I would start this one as there are quite a few people who think that split vans are rare.
Here is why I think they are not.
1. tens of thousands of them were made.
2.Most VW enthusiasts know of at least one in a paddock or shed somewhere.
3.They only seem rare as you dont see that many on the road, due to the fact that they cost a hell of a lot to restore.
4.I know of 7 splits including two 13 window deluxes within half an hours drive of my house, the owners wont sell them and they will end up rotting away. I also know of 4 that are owned by VW enthusiasts including 2 barn door standard kombis and they are not being restored as yet(sorry I think one of the barnies has been started)
5. If they are that rare how come most can be bought(unrestored ) for under $2000??
6. Yes deluxes are rare and also Barnys as they were never made here and had to be imported but standard kombis are not rare.

Cheers

good original splits are rare in proportion to the crap out there. Yes you can get a split for less than $2000.00 - getting one for less than $2k means you'll blow ten times that fixing it at a shop, harlf arsed resotrations and patched splits are common, great restos - tend to be snug in the garage of owners that have the scars to show.

I agree, just because it's a split don't mean its rare, but a good original one that you can finish in your lifetime without going broke or getting divorsed - a different matter.

winerot ·

i have been bitten by the bug & have 3 to do as can beseen in my
signature.
im looking at $2000.00 at least to get restored, not silly the first is in now & its been promised to my better halve which allows me a free
reign after that.
you know i bought her a boat once for her b/day then a very good rod & reel for moms day heh heh heh
no not silly at all, risking decapitation but not silly.

kombibob ·

is that 2000 or 20000? :o

57kombi ·

I have looked at over 30+ splits here in S.A and ALL of them needed rust repair work, at the minimum they needed both inner and outer sills, outriggers, jacking points, center chassis section.
So why would you spend more than $2000 on any one of them. I mean the original purchase price.
I have seen ones that have had a supposed resto and you look at the sills or outriggers and they are rusty but have a nice paint job.
Why would you buy one of these for $7000+when you will still have to do the same work as you would to one that costs $2000, the paint will need redoing anyway.

Again they are not rare, its just that they cost too much to restore.

I also cant see the point in doing a rat one.
If you were going to drive it safetly you would still need to do the rust repairs and then you would loose the original paint after doing the sills.??

Its like that St George van at the Sydney Nationals, you will never see that on the road legally in the condition it was, it might have taken a trophy as best rat but why when it wasnt even regoed???
That means anyone can find a piece of crap and put some wheels on it, trailer it to a show and enter best rat??

woops $20000.00

crewcabconnection ·

Rats ARE cool, and are a sub-culture all of their own. Rats are often a lifestyle thing, and the look is usually part of the owners wider interests. As long as the owners gets the max enjoyment from the time they spend working on it, driving it or the social scene that they plug into with it I guess.

_dmb_ ·

The St George van is beyond repair and will never be on the road, simple as that. Why not enjoy it, better that than no-one ever seeing it coz it went to sims.
I know I enjoyed it, and a lot of others did too.

VWFREAK ·

Hey 57kombi if you know of that many splitties floating around, share the wealth. I very rearly see them floating around, as you said and the people that have them tent to hang onto them.

Thats my veiw.

i don't think the st george will ever be regoed ,its just a form of art nothing more.
but i agree i paid more then i should for mine , if i had my time again i would have bought a $1000 rust bucket .
not that i dont love her now.:kiss

Also, why spend more than 2k on a resto project? - well if the thing is solid and original then you might pay say 5k for it, but then only 10k on rust, so save 5k.

barenyisbeetle ·

Rare I said. My mother in-law(who is from another era)replied;'there like arseholes', Everyone has one.. Or had one.
Why are these people who have one unwilling to sell ?.
Easy, they have formed a bond with the thing. Simple.
These Vehicles contain the aspirations of and craftsmanship of a Potent cumulative point of civilisation. The effort is evident to me every time I engage with a kafer or bulli.
Im young enough to recall the recovery of american steel from creek beds from farms , that were taken for free and now fetch heaps.
Kombi's Are a Passion and start at 2000 for a project, if you can demonstrate to the owner your keen,to take care of there history.and bring there friend back to life.

57kombi ·

As I said the ones I know of around Adelaide will not sell them, they will end up rotting away.
I have approached one guy who has one of the 13 deluxe's every year for the last 5 and he will not sell it,.
One guy has 2 down the side of his house with tin on the roofs, they have now started to rust away along the roof and will be too expensive to repair.
He will not sell them and one is an early one (55-58) and has factory safari's.

There have been hundreds posted on this site over the years and lots of pics of them in padocks or in the bush and most end up staying there, How many have you seen that have ended up on the road, I know of only a few , not more than a dozen in the time this site has been going.
I have seen them change owners left right and center but they still dont end up on the road.

All I am saying is they are out there but it costs too much to get them on the road, that is why people think they are rare.

Also some get upset with people shipping them overseas, I would say that there are more restored Aussie buses in England than there are here.
If people were so worried about them going overseas wht=y dont they buy them?/

Cheers
Dave

crewcabconnection ·

my 60 panel is rare, v original and lots of work done in the last few years, but I have a wife, so will take yonks to get on the road, as it's not the only ones I've got. So, yes it would be for sale, but it would not be 2k, you get nothing from a good beater for 2k, so when thinking of selling...I then think, can I really be bothered with the dreamers, knockers etc., that will show up to tell me about my panel, when I know every repair, the time and cost of that repair and every inch of it ... too depressing a thought.

I've got history with the bus, but did have to get my fingers burned way before to really appreciate what I've got now - though might sell - maybe - if you get my drift.

Anyone that pays 2k for a split needs their head looking at. Better to pay nothing than 2k....but then sometimes you have to go through it to know it.

winerot ·

yep theres a bloke in my village restoring one
now & me, theres one 4 k's away which looks solid from the fence line its going to england
the owner goes around hunting them & shipping
overseas, i asked how much $6000 to me & $8000 from england.

kombibob ·

i think there will be less and less going over seas ,because the rich are starting to get a taste for them thanks to jamie oliver and friends , i am allways getting stopped by suits at servos saying wow nice ride, these things are rare do you want to sell?
but thats only because she is on the road.nn[ Edited on 16-7-2005 by kombibob ]nn[ Edited on 16-7-2005 by kombibob ]

57kombi ·

This is my point, you buy the cheapest you can, never more than $2000 and then you restore it.
It is better to spend a little on the original purchase as they will all need the same amount of work.
I ended up spending over $20K on parts never mind the 4 years of my labour, Imagine if I had bought one for $7000 and then had to spend the same amount?

I have not seen a split yet (that hasnt been restored) that doesnt need the usual rust repairs.

Cheers
Dave

winerot ·

i got touched by the first one $4000😬
the second in much better condition $750
the third $200 & $100 of that was to bring it

Thats what I am on about, they are out there and the more we educate people on this site that they are and the prices they are worth, the more they will save and the more money they will have to restore them.

Cheers
Dave

winerot ·

dave do you have any left over parts
i can take them off your hands for you
that will make room in your new shed

twoguns ·

sorry but, who gives a sht! seriously. they are a great piece of VW history to own, and far fewer than fatchicks or beetles. they can carry heaps; parts or mates. they turn heads and bring back a lot of memories, that make a lot of people smile, stare and point as you travel down the road.

and you can have the windscreen open, so that you can actually take in the real life feel of the great australian land you are travelling in. making them fun to drive, cruise or commute. 😏

byronbus ·

Dave sometimes your a #%@*...

The St George bus was never meant to be registered or passed off as regsitered...next year we are gunna take a pallet of crushed steel on wheels and push that around, should please the organisers, at least then no one will smile and have a bit of fun, because we wouldnt want to be different and offend anyone..."You just cant tell some people"

Someone infact said it was disrespectful to the old Kombi...I guess crushing is more respectful???

As for rare, I ve been driving around Sydney, the city, south to the Shire, out to Penrith, up to the Blue Mountains, over to Manly and the Northern Beaches, went up and surfed Kiddies Corner at Palmy (good little uncrowded wave by the way, Manly was a bit local...but had some fun) for the last two weeks...I travelled from Byron (800ks) and the last two weeks and havent seen a single split (except DSK members who i visited at their homes) oh and one at Classic Vee Dub...but not another single split driving on the road, in the greatest city on earth and not another splitty...you're right dave, they're not rare...

Resto64 ·

greatest city on earth???

Dave doent have a split to keep him busy so he must antaganise us (if thats how u spell it )nn[ Edited on 16-7-2005 by Resto 64 ]

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

Yep, Daves getting withdrawal symptoms.
But I agree with some points.
When I think of the word 'Rare' I visualise cars that were not built in mass numbers, hand built cars like 10 a day.
Splits were mass produced, in 1954, 40,000 were built. In 1966, 176,000 were built in Hannover alone.
Times that by the number of years splits were available and you have a fair number.
I think it all boils down to price for unrestored splits that put people off.
I know of 20 for sale now, all different prices, 21 windows, 23 windows, barny's, dual cabs the lot. If you want one bad enough you can find one.

What really pisses me off is the people that sit on them, hoping that they are going to be worth more than thier weight in gold itself. They are not, if it gets to the stage where an unrestored 11 window split is fetching nothing less than $30,000 people won't buy them, simple as that.
So the end result is that all the splits in peoples paddocks are gonna rot away (unless you buy a van cover from CVWP) and never given a chance. This dosen't include the people with genuine intentions.

The way things are going you will soon be able to buy a left hooker and convert it with new parts. Buy an 11 window and convert it to a 23 window.Turn an 11 window into a 15 window delux, Not original? who cares!!
Driving on the Gold Coast you can see a split a day, I saw another yesterday that I haven't seen before.

Price you want to pay? for an unrestored split thats down to you but the resto bill is high on all of them to bring them up to a roadworthy standard. There is rot in them all, you just got to find it.
The reason you dont see them everyday, all day long is that they are not a practical everyday vehicle, they are over 40 years old.
The other thing that puts people off restos, is the stigma attached to doing a split back to its original state, bullshit, you can do it to your own style, slam it, raise it, chop it, resto it, what ever takes your fancy.

Don't get me started on Rats !!!!nn[ Edited on 16-7-2005 by ClassicVW(pacific) ]nn[ Edited on 16-7-2005 by ClassicVW(pacific) ]nn[ Edited on 16-7-2005 by ClassicVW(pacific) ]

Byronbus, I drive my split to work in Sydney CBD each day. All my colleagues have HSV's Jap cars and 4WD's. My split is no show winner but it see's daily regular service. I occasionaly see the odd split, but I stress occasionaly. I just wonder where all the splits you see at shows go to after the show!!

Dave maybe uncommon is a better term than rare!

57kombi ·

Some have got my point others havent.
A rare vehicle is hard to find in any condition.
A split is not hard to find.
A split is hard to restore due to cost involved.
Also the people who say splits are rare are usually the ones who dont know how much it costs to do one.
As for giving details of the splits round Adelaide.and when I have approched them a price was never mentioned.
There are 2 on Swan Tce, Semaphore, one of these is the early with semaphores.
There is one on the corner of South Rd and Sturt Rd, Marion, There is one along the Lyndoch Rd, Gawler.
Right lets see how many on here will be bothered to go and fly down here and offer them cash for them.
No one will as they would cost too much to ship back to the eastern states.
If they are that rare put your money where your mouth is and come and try and buy them???

As for the St George bus, what I didnt like was the fact that it won a trophy for best rat, a rat is a drivable vehicle with original paint and nice wheels, it is supposed to be safe at least, a rat is Frenixs beetle not that pile of crap that couldnt be restored or ever used so I would send it to sims after getting any parts off it, whats the use of keeping something that cant ever be restored.

Cheers
Dave

57kombi ·

As for the comments regarding driving around and not seeing them, that is my point, you will see them in paddocks but you dont see many driving as they cost too much to get on the road.
This does not make them rare, just expensive to restore.

So Bone collecter I have shared the locations of some splits will you be booking your flight?????

Cheers
Dave

Dave, the St Goerge split didnt win best Rat, the "Club VW" Nationals dont have such a category...not sure where you get your info...

i seen frenzix beetle earlier this year south bound pacific h/way
im guessing around national time coming towards me, didnt

St george bus won best project i think❓❓

Che Castro ·

Eh you can get all caught up in semantics, but who cares. I like splits.

57kombi ·

Sorry. it got "Best unfinished project"??????

It was unfinished alright.

Anyway that is off the point.
So how many people on here havent seen a split in a paddock or in a driveway, they are everywhere.
I was talking to Roy one day and he also said that he knew of about 20 splits around near himn, so how rare are they.

Cheers
Dave

twoguns ·

actually dave. its quite sad that youve gone to bagging the happy ignorant bliss of ownership of splits. let it lie mate, yours is gone now... but then again, maybe as youve sold yours you are trying to drive done the value so you can get the next one, eh?!🙅

frenzix ·

I'll have to agree with twoguns here (me and wes see eye to eye an alot of things these days) Who gives a flaming turdbag? What's the point of this post? to get people worked up? I don't know if i should laugh or cry, on one hand my 58 is being loved, then our (dsk) catering panel is being bagged ... for some unknown stupid reason. The forum has been positive lately but if posts like this pop up bagging other peoples work then it will come crashing down again. Dave, you wonder why you can't post your opinion on here without critisism, well it's cause your opinion sucks ass.. that's my opinion.

57kombi ·

Tim, you are allowed your opinion, I am allowed mine, thats what makes a forum.
I am just fed up with people who dont know what they are taliking about always saying that splits are rare and then when someone posts a pic of one in a paddock they all scream "where is it I want it" then they do nothing about it.
As for me wanting the price to go down, a mate in the next street to me bought a 64 panel van complete a few months ago for $100. Yes it does need the usual rust repairs but it needs the same as I have seen on a bus advertised for $5000
So how low can the prices go.

Also I see that when ever I start a topic they get quite a lot of views and comments, Do you think people might like discussions, as that is what this is and I havent lowered myself to swear at anyone just because I dont like what they think ay Byron?

Cheers
Dave(who might already have another one)

frenzix ·

There's a reason why you post threads like this, im just buggered to figure out why.

57kombi ·

Its because I like a good discussion and it gets people talking.
we seem to get really boring with the usual, "what colour should I paint my?" type post so these liven things up if we can keep them civil.

maybe someone should word it as a splitty 100% restored properly is rare or rather pretty hard to find just a suggestion.

aggri1 ·

I want to buy this vehicle and I'm all talk! -- I haven't got thirty grand... :-( Nice bus though hey?

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

Mate
The story behind this vehicle is on www.kombiclub.com
When I was searching I saw near on 100 splits, most were being hoarded, most now are probably not worth scrap metal.
Some people buy the bloody things so no one else can have them and then when a genuine buyer comes along the price triples.

No harm in a good 'discussion' but its not just Splits is it. We can use the same for Beetles, KG's, type 3's, type 34's
If you want one bad enough they are out there still.

The rarest Kombi of them all is the early Bay, its like an endangered species. If you find one its probably got the front beam missing, robbed of all its dignity and left to rot into the ground. Is anyone bothered, NO. Bless em!!!

Rats - argh the neverending debate.

A split is only worth what you are willing to pay for it and how lucky you are.
I never find the bargains me!
And obviously where you are, I have not seen any for sale in Qld for $100, because there are fewer here.
The reason is probably that places like Adelaide and Melbourne and Sydney were well established in the sixties and seventies when most splits were brought over. Qld was sparcely populated therefore fewer splits were here.
Pay the price you are happy with.

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

EKs however, they are everywhere common as... even window'd PVs....

crewcabconnection ·

I've got a 60 panel, had all the rust removed. Has 3" drop sills, new inner sills, all holes welded, pro-work, has zero rust in the floor, never has....needs dorr finishing.......many hours spent on this bus....3/4days left tops by a pro to get ready for preparation .... ah but then there's the 7k paint job, all the mechanics to do....so you'd need to be prepared to spend 20k on it....and no one really wants to do that. So when I say 6k starting price, everyone goes 'what the', but then when you've replaced the bottom foot of the car, all the doors open and close and theres zero rust with all new parts hand made to fit this car....then it's never a 2k car. there's a lot of metal in a split that you can't see till you go looking for it......still if someone wants one for 6k U2U me, but bear in mind ... it needs everything mechanically.......so you're looking at $25k investment for a bus.

As soon as you start talking new sills, new outriggers, new fronts, you're talking $20k+. Sooner or later, even if you buy a 6k bus, it's gonna cost you 20 at todays prices.

So I reckon that 20-25k is a realistic figure for a split to be restored....which is good to see I'm in tune with others....but I still think you are better to get a good original and get a very very good panel guy to work on it. The hassle is when you're part way into it, and sunk money and time into it, the last thing you want is some 'know it all' telling you it's worth $200. Yeah get real, you get what you pay for - if - you know what you're actually looking at.

Ghias and splits will send you broke if you are not open to the idea of spending new car money on a 40 year old one.

Sign me up for more of those $100 panel vans btw. I'll take 10.

byronbus ·

And Roy, your shout...

byronbus ·

I have two unrestored splits, paid more than 2k for both, both are registered and are driven daily (as best you can when you can only drive one at a time), both dont need sills, outriggers, etc. Infact both are pretty much rust free...

I put 10,000 MILES on the blue shitter in the last 10 weeks, hasnt missed a beat (ran out of fuel twice) and is solid as a rock, looks crap and ratty, but is safe and solid...

You dont need to spend 30k to have a sweet rust free split, spend 6-10k and buy a sweet and tidy original split and SMILE, i am and i have two splits for less than 15k, wahoo...

57kombi ·

inlaws XER. Originally a 1967 XR 500, it now has front and
rear disc brakes, simmons 16" alloy wheels,
retrimmed XR fairmont intereor with front buckets, and a
nice old 289 V8 motor under the bonnet coupled with a cruise-o-matic auto.
It has all been done in taste and good will, oh, the odometer is reading a
mere 106,000 original miles. Original 6 being replaced with
and original 8 @ 95,000 miles when aquired. Has done
11,000 miles in the last 8 years. Original paint too. 🙂

BLUE_62 ·

One more, lovely old 289 V8......,

Just to touch on some other things, lets not look at this
post as being a negative or a positive, but more a mutral
opertunity to discuss opinions and attitudes towards
different things. I agree that it is these sort of topics that
do create a little debate, but they also certainly create
an enjoyable forum to browse. Look at the hit rate on this
topic, its got things booming again. Its nice to see peoples
rides, and what they are doing, but nothing beats a good
old debate about something trivial, and if your all discusted
by it, why so many returned visits and posts?

You all enjoy the opertunity, dont deny it! :P :thumb

frenzix ·

WHY THE HELL IS THERE PICTURES OF FORDS AND HOLDENS ON HERE? Next Dave will be saying that old holdens are rare, when he's got one. 😉 .

If Splitty's were rare why are companies like Schofields and Creative making new parts. If they were that rare they wouldn't sell a lot.
What is rare is the type of person that wants to drive one.

Blue 62 hit the nail on the head.
Most topics I start are done so that we can get back to having discussions.
But some see them as excuses to have a go at others.
Who said the art of conversation was dead.
I have never had a go at anyone.
As far as I know I have only ever upset one person and I sorted that out with her ages ago
I have lasted about as long as I can.
I have felt like this for a while but have given it a few chances.
I now know why others who have been on here for years have gone.
I just thought I would do one last good post as I intend to have a break from this site for a while. It has changed over the years and it seems that i cant post my opinions, without someone turning it into a free for all.
I thought a forum was so that we could each have a say,
but it seems that if you dont think like others they have a go??
The new project arrives in a couple of weeks as does our new baby.
So I will not have time to come on here as much as I used to.
I have been on here almost every day since it started and I think it is time for a change.
I will be on tomorrow as 62 deluxe is going to post some pics of his splitty.
I will visit kombiclub.com and see how that goes.

Cheers

i agree... geez tim, thats two.

should post a report saying that this thread is containing offensive material. not fit for viewing on AVD😁.

helbus ·

I have seen tons of splits. Usually and unfortunatley above tradies beltline. My eyes. My eyes. They burn!

vwtyp2 ·

the $$ sums on restoring a Splitty, or any car for that matter are simple.
If you want it to have it look like a new car, you have to be prepared to spend new car price.

squizy ·

To me, no matter what the arguement, whether it's restored or rat, or unroadworthy, every one is to be cherished, enjoyed, and smiled at......

This below, bought the biggest smile to my face at the Nats, all because it was still being enjoyed at any cost. And that's what it's about. :kiss

Purple Martin ·

Now THAT is rat! 😁

byronbus ·

Thats the dsk split, boy did we cop some flack over that...
Some thought it was disrespectful to the ole girl...another person on here thought it was better to take any good bits and crush it...but the dsk boys continue to enjoy her...

byronbus ·

Haha, I just read some production figures, these things are bloody rare...

byronbus ·

Haha, see ya dave, we'll miss ya lol

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

I think what Dave was saying is that that is not a 'Rat', as its not registered nor is it driven (I am guessing here), its probably more a project. A 'Rat' is generally given to a VW thats on the road but keeps its old 'patina'
I can see why it may be classed as disrespectful to other rat owners and/or other splitty owners.
There are people out there that have spent $20,000 plus on making there bus a 'Rat' look and would spin heads for the right reasons. This bus was probably laughed at for all the wrong reasons
This would look an awesome bus if you repaired the rot and kept it on the road for future generations, whether iot be as a 'Rat' or restored.
Thats only my opinion

Roy, i think we are having a laugh, imagine sitting round a table in a pub drinking and chatting about the same subject.

ClassicVW(pacific) ·

When was the last time you were sat round a pub table in Boston???

Samblers ·

HI

I havent read all the posts on this thread, but my opinion for what its worth is that I've been looking for a split for a couple of months now and have seen NOTHING. I regularly check all the websites listed, plus other places, and it seems like Aus is empty.

When I say nothing I mean NOT ONE splitty that I would even consider going to look at.

I care not for rarity of the thing, 23/21 windows, barn-doors, pressed bumpers, fairy lights or whatever - all I'm after is a good use-able kombi with a camping interior... and I'm prepared to pay the cost for the right one. All I've seen so far is $2000 projects

So, where are all the kombi's OVER $2000 ????

VolksFolks ·

2 1/2 years ago Roy, there are pubs in Tassie you know..

Many keep hold of thier splits if they are useable, as they are very hard to find a replacement. There has been a couple on here that look pretty nice.
If you are looking for a camper, these are harder to find, as opposed to buses or vans.
It may be an option to buy a windowed van or bus and convert to a camper yourself.
What price range are you looking at??

VolksFolks ·

haha fewl, 2 1/2 since back in Boston, will be there in 10 days, mmmm Batemans Biter

when you off back?

Samblers ·

ClassicVWPacific: I'm not looking at a price-range in particular, just prepared to pay what it takes to find the right splitty 😉

If anyone finds one, let me know 😉

You can't beat a pint of Batemans Bitter.
I will be there September for Vanfest hopefully already got a cruise starting from Skeggy, 6 splitties and 4 bays. The Skeggy contingent of the Kombi Club

There are many out there, like you say its just finding the right one

phatrat ·

I made it to page two.....I think I did well:duh

if you won a trophy at a vw show and someone bagged it out on aussieveedubbers you would be bagging them when you thought they were as quoted" enthusiastic" about vws of all styles as a lover of rats as you are "62 deluxe".
Im not personally really pissed of and its like us all sitting around having a beer and giving it back .
but i know alot of hard work, fun , rare parts and the not so rare ,went into the st george panel and enjoyment by many and bag it and ye shall be bagged

62deluxe ·

Point taken about the St George bus.
Personally I think the thing is *#%^$ awesome. Once again only my opinion.
I just feel the whole thing is getting a little personnal.
I for one have NEVER bagged anyones ride here or anywhere else.
Maybe as one of your members said "take the moral highground" and don't bite back. That is usually what the other person wants anyway.......

volma1 ·

Thinking of selling my 60 perhaps, what offers. Very og 134k miles same running gear not butchered never welded. No rust ever.

any going cheap around melbourne??

Spook ·

I see it as a bit of both ways.
While splitties are collectable, there is a difference between collectable & rare. At the same time, the number of splitties built that I have seen quoted in this thread doesn't mean much either. I have said this before on the forum, because the bay kombi was such a superior vehicle (which was the general idea), in the mid 70's you could not give away a split.
A hell of a lot ended up as razor blades. Those that didn't are tucked away &/or rotting away.

But that still doesn't equate to rare.
All you have to do is look, but get off the sealed roads to do it.

aggri1 ·

There's a $800 dollar one in Melbourne somewhere hipichic.

Yeah, there's one (split) out front of my place, one around the corner on weekends (hey Tony, nice bus - should chat about your IRS), another project (?) one just up the road (steve), splitties are EVERYWHERE these days. Well, almost. :P Then theres some place with an early bay and other stuff amongst the trees, just around the other corner. :P
