Ive just put a 28pct carbie on a single port 1500 motor,Ive tunned in accordance to the manual, idle is set to 500rpm and the mixture is at arond 1 1/2 turns it seems to be running o.k and can idle nicely.I have found that upon accelaration there is a slight flat spot between idle and full throttle. Is there any way i have overseen something or is it the undersized carbie. It also takes a little bit to warm it up now would this be something to do with the choke. Can i get around these problems or is it simply something about the solex 28pict being an earlier carbie.cheers D 😵💫😵💫nn[ Edited on 18-7-2005 by kustomkool ]

Check the idle circuit. It sounds like your idle jet might be too lean. It might be the 28 carbie is too small?? Are you getting any carb icing? this can cause hesitation and stumbling when you accelerate.

Check to ensure that the accellerator pump as actually pumping.
If the discharge nozzle is clagged, the check valves stuck or the pump has crap in it then that will cause stumbling on sudden accelleration.
If the engine runs cleanly on slight throttle or light throttle cruise, then its unlikely that the idle jet itself is the culprit.
Im presuming you are stomping on the throttle to get it to stumble?

Idle jet pumps nicely,I forgot to mention I am running a 009 dizzy, my vaccum inlet isnt blocked off.Im thinking that may be the problem.I will give that a go tommorow and let you know how i go.Also to adjust idle is it alright to go past 1 and 1/2 turns or should i wind it out until the engine peaks ,Then adjust the idle to 500rpm.cheers lads..
