Anyone parting out a Karmann Ghia??
Chasing a steering column, shaft & tube;
as early model as possible, 1960?

these are a little longer than equivalent beetle item.

Is an oval era Beetle one the same? Got one here complete.

REDKG ·

the steering column in my 1960 is original and is the same length as a beetle . swapped it over whilst the original went for blasting and paint.

lowrider ·

Dean,
Would you mind measuring it for me, the actual steering shaft?
I have the required length written down here somewhere.......
Over at the Samba they reckon the KG is longer(?)
It'd be great if they were interchangeable.
thanks.
Andy

The measurement I got from the Samba was 95.5cm, not counting the
part that attaches to the rubber coupling.nn[ Edited on 19-7-2005 by lowrider ]

Hey Andy the steering coloumn is 725mm end to end

REDKG ·

i measured my kg column at 945 mm

lowrider ·

plot thickens eh?
I should dismantle the 70's one thats in the car & measure ...
maybe there's only a centimetre in it.
It's a lowlight, so I'm trying to keep that original look.
thanks Red & Grey

This colomn is off a 57 big window beetle.

Over 200mm thats a big diff. I will chack the part no for both in a early VW parts book I have.

Grey 57 ·

Bugger , the book only covers Beetles up to 59/60.

But the Beetle part no is 111 415 555 B. If thats any good to you
