Just put a sweet pair of Kadrons on my 1776 and it runs fine but is popping under load and backfiring when im decelerating.
What should i attack first to fix this problem, i had neither before the change over.
Please help us, any suggestions?

Sounds like it's too lean. You should be able to stop the backfiring by adjusting the mixture screws, but if the popping persists you may have to go up a size in the idle jets.

Intake manifold leaks? Exhaust manifold leaks?
Kadrons MUST BE set up before installation. Jets? Accel pump stroke?

Thanks Sandy and VWCool, tried re-adjusting the mixture srcews and even making it slightly rich but no change. I got the Kadron kit from lowbugget in the states and they changed the jets to suit my motor so i'm not sure there...?
The popping is like i am hearing the engine accellerate and it is vibrating through a plastic cup. Is that wrong or is it jusr the sound of kadrons? Ive never heard twin carbs before and it may just be the sound they make?
As for leaking exhaust it didnt do it before so it shouldnt be that, and i checked the intake manifolds and they were fine???
it runs fine but i know it could be better... I'm still lost

Make sure your idel jets are not clogged with any junk - doesn't take much to block them.

It could be just the intake sound of the kadrons - they are noisy buggers, but seeing as you have the backfiring issue as well I'd be looking for intake and exhaust gasket leaks. My kadrons are noisy too, but I dont get the backfiring.
had a similar problem a while back and this site did help a little, turned out it was a leaky manifold gasket.
Good luck

Moral to the story that poppy cuppy noise under acceleration or load, dont worry about, but the backfiring, look for the leak... Thanks Guys I'll give it a go.
