Globes for clear lense

GTMac ·

Have obtained clear blinker lenses for my 71 Type 3. Went to get the amber globes but all I have found have the pins offset and not directly opposite each other like the clear globes. Does anyone know where to get amber globes that will slot straight in?

Hi,
the easy way is to buy at hobby shops a very small can or bottle of clear amber paint and paint the clear bulb...
a small tin of model paint will do probably 10-15 bulbs....
and they are inexpensive...... to purchase... even BIG W sell it....

I have seen bulbs already painted or dipped with amber paint at Auto One. Whether they had the straight pins I don't know....
I have over the years used the offset pin type and pushed in one pin with multigrips or pliers and then just use the one pin...

what I did was just carefully file off about 1/2 of one pin, & then was able to shove in, the other pin holds it OK

the glass paint sounds like a good idea, the orange glass globes with pins directy opposite each other exist, but are hard to come by

I have vague memories of filing out one of the bits on a bayonet fitting on the beetle for something to make the different pin types fit.
