you just have to love late night feeds of a new born. there is absolutly nothing on tv to watch but at least it gives me a chance to watch my American offraod DVD's. Biggest problem is my little girl even though she is 2 weeks old loves the sound of a screaming buggie or the purr of a truck and she wont go back to sleep. I guess this is what you call quality father daughter time.

Yeah were just about to go back to that stage - 3rd time round. 5 years since the last one its gonna be a shock to the system. The Mrs is in hospital right now, she'll be calling me in the morning so I can go back in, we may have a baby in 12 hrs or so.
Look at it on the bright side, at least you have an excuse to watch something YOU want to watch
Wag67 ·
well best of luck with your 3rd. It is not so bad now as i have taken 2 weeks holiday but i will hate to see what happens after a long day at work then late nights feeds.
I have also been looking at the Web and found 2 more DVd that are now on there way to my letterbox so that should make it easier to cope with
ColumBUS ·
i have the same problem, whenever i hear the purr of a good pobjoy engine i break down into a gurgling screaming mass and crave breastmilk :cr:P

I just have one thing to say to that KK.

So this is what we have to look forwards to...... my wife Mel is 14 and a half weeks now, due in February (which is just awesome, we have been trying for 2 years).......
Wag67 ·
yes the late nights and lack of sleep are pretty bad but well worth it. you will hear all sorts ofdifferent things from people saying to do this and that but trial and error is the best and you will find that you will discover what is the best method and ways for your new born. i am still searching but loving the adventure

Its not that bad, you do get thru it somehow. Its funny now my 9 year old is at the point where he felt sick at about 4am the other day so he got himself up and went to the toilet for a spew. Of course we got up & raced in there to help. Its just really interesting seeing the different stages develop, a couple of years ago there would have been a mess on the duna to clean up - yuck.
My wife's contractions mysteriously stopped overnight in hospital, so she's back home resting playing the waiting game again. Hopefully it doesnt happen over the weekend as her doctor is 450kms away on a scheduled country posting in Mt Gambier...she's trying to hold on till Monday!!!

Yeah kids are hard work, but the rewards are endless. My 9 y.o. daughter had diarrhoea when she was 6. The poor tot didn't even wake up as she made a mess of her bed at 3 a.m. We had to put her [fast asleep in the shower], wash her sheets, hose down the mattress [which we ended up throwing out because the smell wouldn't come out of it]. Thankfully we'd just bought some new mattresses that we hadn't started to use.
Ah kids....always something new around the corner. Our 4th is due in 8 weeks. My wife is getting irritable, but thankfully our little fella is sleeping through.

mine had serious reflux issues until about 6 months. I remeber one night when we were trying to go out, we had to dress her 4 times as she just kept chucking up. Everything in the house smelt like baby vomit in those days. Shes had a few sicknesses in bed since but the worst was when she gave back a hot dog she had just eaten, all over the wife and lounge. Kids are gross. Send them off to baording school.
Nah actually they are a lot of fun. You can teach them to do silly embarrassing things. I taught mine how to say 'new beetle pile of junk' when they first came out and she could say it pretty loud She was 2 yr old. Although one day she said it to a hyundai ??? and you can teach them how to do silly dances. They are always falling over nad hurting themselves so you can win stuff on funniest home videos. I havent yet though. You can teach them to abuse their mother. If mine is in an evil mood I can get hr to say "Cmon Kerry ya mongrel" yeah, kids are cool.

Our youngest one is 2 and a half now, so we're past your stage. Kids are great, especially when they are sleeping. 😂
Where do you get your DVD's?

Well it's another night and i don't want to go to sleep as i know i will be woken in an hour or so. As for the DVd's check out http://www.race-dezert.com/index1.html.
They are real good and send them over fairly quickly as well. Can't wait to get Dust to Glory. It is a full length movie of the Baja 1000

Kids, love to hate them, hate to love them.

bwahahaha..... ewww kikko :puke
welcome to the twilight zone wags...... :duh
mine is 6.. as far as i am concerned the 'textbooks' are sadly lacking in 'actual' developnmental milestones.
walking, talking, counting, self feeding, becoming house-slave earning thier keep etc....
baaaahhhhhumbug 😠
more like.....
Key stress causes
1.Oh god when is the screaming going to end?
2.When is the poo ever going to stop?
3*.When will I regain my normal brain fuction?
4.Oh my god kids vomit,, what kind of perverse joke is this?
Milestones in realtime:
Stops sreaming in public for no apparent reason other than annoying the crap out of parental figure due to not being given an ice-cream :bounce:
Wipes OWN bum (one of my favs 😉 )
Pre warns when internal gastro warfare is occuring with 85 - 95% accuracy :bounce:
Can pull own sheets off bed, get changed and sort out his own midnight leakages :bounce:
Freakin Yay! can run to toilet when got runs :bounce:
Can aim for bucket, and not miss when projectile voimiting :bounce:
Starts coming out with some really wicked comebacks as the sense of humour develops (My favourite one :thumb :P )
*NB number three is permenant damage caused by the chemicals released by infant nappies, each one you open emits toxic gas which changes ones brain chemisty. The effects are irreversable and can often be increased by the pscychological trauma of sreaming babies. The shock mainly being, 'how can something so small be so loud, and keep going for so long?'.
:sandrine handy hint:
Not only are children fuelled by red cordial, chocolate and stuff they find laying about on the ground (bugs, stones and chewing gum etc), one should be aware of the solar powered aspect, dawn till dusk, interior lighting etc, very efficient, need only very small amounts. An option is just locking them in a dark cupboard until they are 21.. or under the stairs. Saves money and time as well..... 🥷

I'm 18, and I must admit, I wasn't easy for my mum.
To start off with, I got stuck on the way out. Eventually (After nearly killing my mother) I was born, and weighed just over 11 lbs. Because of the stuckage, I had to have some sort of physio to get my shoulders back in place. Then I started eating solids after a shorter than normal time.
Fast forward 18 years...
I eat constantly, yet stay at a constant 70 kgs. (@ 6ft 2inches),
I am a teenage boy, top of the world.
Yeah, right.
Overall, I'm suprised my mum hasn't been carried off to the padded cell.
