And I mumbled,

The number plate is wrong, as by the looks of it plastic doesn't toast. Melt may have been more appropriate. Hey at least the passenger side window can be salvaged 🙂
Did anyone see this months Volksworld, one of their previous cover cars has been burnt to the ground. Something like an owner mistake in his shed causing fuel to squirt all over the interior, then something sparked it from memory. Would have to be the worst feeling, you would have the whole street asking you what happened as well...

If you want a set of finger guards (and lots of other stuff), Rocky Mountain Motor Works sell them new.
Albert King, a crash-test expert at Wayne State University, said the Beetle performed well because its bumpers contained energy filters, which work on the same principle as shock absorbers. Energy filters in the Beetle's bumpers compress during a front impact
"This is the first time I've seen zero in pole impact. It's really amazing," he said.
They save your lives in an accident and they suffer little to no damage when you bump into poles (to about 15-20 km/h anyway).
thanks,
Andrew

That is great to see. I love the $0 cost to fix on the beetle and $1,174 on the elantra after the same test.
Still, don't think I will try it myself.

Hmm.. some one should have told that tit bit of info to the panel beaters who repaired my brothers NB after some one put a scrape in the rear bumper in a parking lot. Hard to actually see the damage, but coupla grand to fix!!! Lucky for insurance is all I can say!!!!
