I reckon, if we know the route the convoy is taking, those along the way can wait in the nearest bus stop 'service-lane-concrete-pull-over' lane and just join the gaggle as they pass - bit like the 'Italian Job'

my grandpa used to be head conductor of puffing billy... used to get on for free... now it costs HEAPS! will be cool cruising up with the tofu tho

Hey hipichic, I've seen your lovely purple bug! At least, I think it was yours.... my bf has a Tiger Mica orange L Bug, and we were chasing one up The Mad Mile from UFTG to Upwey a couple of months ago. I haven't seen too many purple Beetles around. There's a really nice deep Plum one with white walls that I see in FTG, near Mountain Gate shopping centre..... but Purple is definitely better!! :P

I bought her back in February, so if it was before that, it would have been the person I bought it from. Other than that, it wasn't me.... 🙁 I haven't gone in that direction with her yet.

Tehehe :P There's heaps of old and new Beetles and Kombis that I see around Camberwell/Hawthorn area.... and a few around FTG/Upwey where I am.... but not many in between that I come across. I had someone in an Orange L Bug toot me on my way to work a couple of weeks ago....it was 7am, so took a minute to register what happened! lol!

Crusing all the way sounds like a plan. My Veronica is a bit scared to be left in a big carpark all on her own .....( more like her mum is a bit too paranoid about other people breathing on it !)

It was an awesome cruise!! 😀 Quite a few veedubbers were up bright and early for the 9am meet @ Brandon Park Shopping Centre. This is the first cruise I've been to in my own car since having caught 'the Bug' a few months ago... and it was the first cruise where every colour of Beetle and Kombi weren't doubled up! Such a pretty VW Rainbow! :thumb Anyway, from there about 20 of us (I didn't count actual numbers) headed to Emerald station for the Puffing Billy train ride. A few decided not to go on the train ride, so we cruised all the way to Gembrook, met up with the others and had a Pub lunch. If it wasn't for the hour long wait for our food, it would have been the perfect day! Anyway, A couple of my photos turned out, so I'll post them on this thread. I just want to say how nice it was to meet all of you who came, and for the compliments on my Pretty Blue Bug! :kiss

It was a lot of fun as always, and it was awesome to see everyone who drove past us smiling from ear to ear (or hanging out of their window with a camera!)... except for the HSV woman in front of me on the way to Emerald. She was cussing us all and shaking her head, even raised a fist to the line of cutie Beetles in front her! So what if some of us drive slow... it means everyone around gets to take a longer look!! 😉
