Its a '71 with a fresh 1600 type1, tilt top camper with everything behind the front seats stripped. Not much rust and a half decent paint job for $1175. Strange thing about it is it has its indicators up high near the vent like a later model Kombi but still the bumpper with the under door step and small taillights. Some crossover model maybe?nn[ Edited on 22-8-2005 by Mad Manx ]

Nice van! A good score.
...but are you sure that its a '71? I have a twin cab that has the high front indicators and the step in the bumper and it's plated as a '72 - it does have the larger tail lights thou.....they were a change-over model....

The shape of the vents confirms pre 72 vintage.
The front more than likely has had a graft from damage.

Didn't he also have a fastback for sale? The boss was keen for that but ummed and ahhed to long and missed out on bidding.

thanks guys.... I was thinking it may be a newer front end grafted on too? Its really in quite good nick body wise alas with the usual holes everywhere from the camper conversion, it really does need a larger engine though, its a little sluggish to say the least (hmmm my neighbour has a 2lt FI kombi rusting away behind the shed). 77bay yeah its from the same guy, the fasty didnt sell, if your still interested I can give you his number? Its not too bad, 1600 twin solex carbed, alloy wheels, only rust I could see was in the sills at the door jam on the passenger side, and it has a cracked rear engine mount (easly welded up)
I'm sure there will be many questions to ask so i'm glad you guys are here:thumb
