All German Day - Car Show · Aussieveedubbers

I have been contacted by the Mercedes Benz Club of Qld to help with organising the Volkswagen side of the ALL GERMAN CAR SHOW.

Mercedes-Benz Club of Qld, Porche Club of Qld, Audi Club of Qld, BMW Club of Australia, BMW club of Qld and the one and only true German vehicle THE VOLKSWAGEN clubs of Brisbane will be attending.

Date: 16 October
Location: Hawthorne Park, Hawthorne Road, Hawthorne
Trade and Show and Shine enter from 8am and all in and set up before 9am
General public entry from 9am

Proceeds raised on the day will go to the Qld Institute of Medical Research.

The trade sites are $25 instead of $50 which will be going to the QIMR
I have negotiated the cost for entry of a VW into the Show and Shine for $10. This has been changed so all cars are charged the same amount, and will make it easier for volunteers on the gate.

Hope everyone can come along.

If you own a business and advertise or use a VW and can bring it along for the day please contact myself as we have sites available.

On the day:

* Display from vaious German Marques
* Volkswagens will have a chance for Public Vote: FAVOURITE VW
* First 50 Volkswagens entered into the Show and Shine will receive a VW poster
* Free entry to spectators
* Food and Drinks available
* Childrens Entertainment

Hawthorne Movie Complex maybe showing Herbie Fully Loaded at cheaper priced tickets.

Okay..................the way I see it after a meeting with the organiser of the day is........Porshe will be holding their Concourse D'Elegance, so they will be competing against themselves, we will be doing a display day with a Public Vote for the favourite 3 VW's on the day, and the other Car Clubs will be holding display days. There will be no inter-marque competition as the day is for fundraising for the Queensland Institute of Medical Research.

That is correct Kathy.

Its a Group of German Car Clubs and Dealerships coming together to raise money for Qld Institute of Medical Research and have some fun on the day.

BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porche and Volkswagen all together at the one place. The 5 Clubs that are already involved with this are all coming along on the day.

I CAN CONFIRM: NO COMPETITIONG BETWEEN CLUBS / MAKES OR ANYTHING ELSE just a fun day.

Greg Ahern is the Vice President of the Mercedes-Benz Club which I have been working with and can CONFIRM NO CLUB IS PULLING OUT.

If anyone requires clarification on ANYTHING and to clear up any RUMOURS please contact Greg on 0419 527 206. You might as well get it from the Head person that is the key person for this ALL GERMAN DAY - CAR SHOW

I just spoke to Ian Solomon, he is the contact for the BMW Club of Qld. I asked him the question about attending the All German Day Car Show.

YES ...... BMW Club of Qld will be attending the All Greman Day Car Show but they will not be having a judging and trophy show as such. Just a group getting together.

BMW Club of Qld held the Annual Show at Easter Time (earlier this year).

Hope this clears things up BIX. I'll see ya tomorrow at VWDCQ.

ooh, that sounds like an exciting day. I am new to this little world of dubs, and it would be nice to get out and see some cars and meet some people from clubs! Maybe by then i will have my Kombi! who knows, will have to wait and see.:blush

Welcome to the Dub work.
Even if your Kombi is not going come along anyway. many of us have had to drive something else to a Dub show because our VW's are not ready, come and meet us.

Some of us got together on Saturday 17th to have some photos taken for the Courier Mail and Bayside Bulletin.

Brisbane Extra phoned me this morning and will be running advertising for us as well. Everything is starting to come together.

We have already definatly 11 Trade Sites that have been confirmed. Hopefully will have some bargains on the day.

met u at Capalaba Park in May ....
i have cut and pasted the post and sent it to teachers of German and other languages to promote in schools . Should be lots of response.
Am tempted to bring the real Karmen (KG60) down oho!
perhaps the companies may be able to up their children's prizes as if we do this right there will be a further huge request after Easter next year as there will be a 4-6 weeks German 'time" in Bris to promo all sorts of things incl learning German. Funding from large German Conso's is already promised .
Will try to get my Domino's son interested ....should have his vw promo vehicle by then (i know I'll sell him mine ) !!

Hiya... yes i remember you both.

Thats a great idea, hopefully they will call me. We dont have anything donated not even prizes for the raffles. So its going to be hard to have something for childrens prizes as its a car show.

Wow we will actually see the Karmen... how cool is that. Will you be coming down and staying the night on the saturday?

We actually have enough food outlets for the day. On the other hand though he is more than welcome to come along and hand out some vouchers then he is more then welcome.

Hi Mon,

I was impressed with the piece that they run but not with the comment about the VW's. There was a part about the show and VW's in the interview but it was cut.

He was really after this rivalry between the marques (Which doesn't exist!!!!) and concentrated on the Merc and Porsche. The BMW only got a drive past and he didn't even mention the date.

I know he didn't want to feature a VW but didn't know that he wanted to bag them especially when you have organized the publicity for it.

A BIG APOLOGY TO ALL THE LOVELY VW PEOPLE OUT THERE AS THESE VIEWS DO NOT SUPPORT THE IDEA BEHIND THE SHOW.

Hmmmmmmmmm........... was reeeallly disappointing this morning. The grounds had great puddles of water and just wasn't possible, so hopefully everyone can organise their days off again for the 30th. Keep posted though, as we have to check with the council and hope that the same park is available on that weekend.

Have been watch the rain and the cloud. I have got it on good authority that its not going to rain on Sunday.

Its raining during the week so that the park will be beautiful and green and clean.

Everyone entered into the show is able to leave when they are ready..... As Midlifecrises mentioned that we will be leaving enough space for cars to come in and get out of the park without to much drama.

I will be driving over my 76 Kombi, from the northside. Just keen to meet some people and have a look around.

Apparently Mrs M has had phone calls about some more unusual VW's wanting to come tomorrow..................a 1985 5 cylinder car (can't remember name but was told it was a kind of audi/vw cross) and a messerschmidt?..........I always thought they were planes, but hey, apparently they are also cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Definitely will be worth the look

Just walk up to any of us in our maroon Klub VW shirts and ask for Mrs M or Midlife Crisis and they will point you in the right direction.

Bit hard to find how to get in! Had to educate a fellow abusive road user on the way there what a semaphore is. For some strange reason he wouldn't wind his window down after I followed and caught up with him.
