Its a bout bloody time really!
International cricket was as boring as bat shit until the poms stood up in this series! I actually wanted to know what was going on - so its good to see, and will probably change the way our team looks and the way we play the game too.

Bring on the West Indies this summer - hopefully theyve got their shit together too! i miss the good ol days with Viv Richards swaggering onto the firld like he owned it and most of the time he bloody well did! Thompson trying to end the life of every batsmen, Marsh breaking bats...them were the days! when a ball was a weapon and beer drinking was admired! 馃樀

Put it this way we let u win ...

vw54 路

or another way of looking at it

Australia LOST ...... England didnt win

field 路

I'm copping it at the moment as the old lady is from England and loves her cricket.the Aussie's better pick their act up as the old boy is from Barbados in the West Indies and has been waiting for a long while for the Windies to get back to playing like the old days.
You got to take your hat off to Warney,he was very good with the ball and also the bat he'd have to be player of the serious for Australia.
Congrats England you deserved it:beernn[ Edited on 13/9/2005 by field ]

Nah Aust lost
and not England didn't win.
England deserved to win the way they finally played. Have to admit that they played liek they enjoyed it rather than the way they used to play.
We deserved to lose the way we went over acting and thinking it was a walkover in the making.
Good for them, but, I don't think it'll last too long. So enjoy it while you can 馃榾

Thats pretty bad...i think beckam was too busy bending it, to concentrate on the game hehehe

cricket - what cricket!? weve moved on - that ashes thing was ages ago - old news!!

Robo 路

We stuffed up, and England found Flintoff Pieterson and Rod Marsh! Oh my god it must be nearing the end of the world. England Rugby world cup champs and ashes holders! Its lucky G Bush is not the PM or they may have had visions of recovering the old empire by reinvading!

Oz gave Eng too much of a start in every innigs and then couldn't catch them

Starbug 路

does this mean that i wont have to listen to the cricket at work for a little while?

yessssssssss!!! *dances around the room*

oh i mean... oh woe is australia... for they have lost their burnt remains of a tree stump signifying the death of english cricket...

teeheehee 馃槈

penguin 路

burnt cricket bails I believe

but originally from a tree, so maybe...........

Robo 路

What gets me is they wouldn't let us have them here cause "their too fragile to transport" but I noticed mr flintoff running around with the urn in his big mit in the after game celebrations!

The original ashes were apparently lost/spilt whatever many years back, and the ashes now are just made up of all the male pommy polies suspender belt and fishnet stockings from the 90's! It was a heartfelt gesture from the parliment and they even had bra burning ceremony while drinking hot beer and saying 'hey what' n 'innit' n 'scwapsheer' n 'chip butties' in the tradition of the good ol Queens English!
馃槝

Thats all ive got - im not jaded! 馃槧

serves Australia right for having a philandering scumbag as our star player. 馃槧

the fact is that is none of our business and would'nt and should'nt even be published in papers if we had our heads screwed on right and did'nt relish in making heroes of sportsman and then rummaging through their rubbish...

i dont think having a god given talent or skill makes a person some type of role model, thats what parents are for.... if he wants to be a philandering scumbag then so be it, it is not for us to judge...

england finally played really well this series and congragulatons to them. i'd put money that if the foul weather did'nt win the series for them (which it indeed diid!) then australia would of got them in the end but its good this has happened, breathes a bit of life back into the game and hopefully as field says, the windies will get their shit together and be competitive once again...

There is absolutely no doubt that Shane Warne is the best spin bowler test cricket has ever seen.

But I disagree with you about his need to be a role model. I think that in a country that prizes sportsman as highly as it does, there is a responsibility that goes along with the opportunity to play at the elite level. Poor behaviour brings the game into disrepute and it puts sponsors off. That is why not 12 months ago a whole NRL team was disciplined for their antics in a Hotel room while on tour. From what I know of cricket tours, and have been told personally by two ex-australian team members, it's just as bad there too.

In the end, I think there is a good case for saying australian cricket would have been better off if Shane had been more self-controlled, not just with his mobile phone, but also with his choice of tablets.

And I also think Shane might have woken up if he'd been disciplined like Wayne Carey was. Wayne pulled his head in big time after that. I don't expect perfection, I just want Shane to learn.

I love great cricket, but I'm ashamed of our best cricket player. I think at some levels he's become a liability.

People may not agree with me, but it's defintely worth thinking long and hard about. What sort of player do you want your kids to idolize? (coz they will), a bloke who is faithful to his wife and doesn't take drugs, or our beloved Mr Warne? Sorry, but for me, it wouldn't be the latter.

GASBNR 路

Don't agree bout the weather comment.
as Shane Warne said "we were out played"
And Ricky Ponting said "know we are going to eat humble pie"
Hope it tastes good!
