Moral of the story here is:
After any suspension component or height changes. get a wheel alignment.
25 bucks worth of wheel alignment back then would have saved a prolly a hundred bucks worth of rubber.
Oh well!

I find some of the suspension places better. But they do cost more, and always seem to find soemthing wrong with the front end that they want to fix for you.

haha thats very true - it was the plan.. but i wanted to try a few heights see what worked best for me... then i forgot about it.. then today i spent 260 on a pair of 145's.. next job is to get some 6" wide rims and some 205's, or 215's...
but before that i have a weber, alternator, and front seats out of a 626 to go in :|

i took my lowered 68 bug to my local bob jane (blacktown, nsw) and they scratched their heads for half an hour then told me they didnt know how to do it...

how about the rears? Woud they know or do they have the correct equipment to do the rear?

I used fulcrum suspension, found them ok. Then used a indpendant suspension place and found them awesome. Tires are not the best.
Also try asking at your local VW shop who they recomend.

Cray, try Tyre power on Seven Hills rd. They just did a wheel alignment and balance on the fr end of my buggy, $19 and it's about 300% better. Sadly, they also found the rims were a bit buckled. :o

Id be very surprised if they dont have the stuff to do a 4 wheel alignment. This kind of clobber is fairly commonplace now.
My suggestion would be if a steering or wheel/tyre shop does NOT have 4 wheel alignment gear then go somewhere else who does.
Its all well and good to align the front wheels relative to each other but the whole exercise is a WOFTAM if the front end is not aligned to/with the rear end.
End of story!
(lots of ends here LOL)
