heading out of Brisbane today, down the pacific Hwy and there was a poor beetle on the side of the road just before Garden city and just before it a poor guy walking along with a tin of fuel. if I wasn't in the bus i would of stopped but i don't think the beetle would like a throat full of diesel.
Hope you got it going again

I'm used to not having a fuel gauge - the second car I drive ('83 Puldar) doesn't have an accurate gauge in it, so I just go by the mileage.. every 350kms or so, i'll fill up...

Only ever happened once to me in a beetle but it was a 62 and had the reserve tank level on the firewall so fipped it was motoring again - learnt after that and made sure it was off when not needed.

"E" on a fuel guage is joked about being enough - lol and if you run out then 😂

happenned to me more than once, always seems to be in peak hour traffic, usually when one certain passanger (who we will call marineboy...) assures me that "it'll be fine"... 😠
moral of the story, fix your fuel gauge and don't trust boys with ulterior motives.....

I ran out . But i was in Sydney between the 10th and 18th fairways on my golf course. I was also riding a diesel gator. I was tricked by the aprentice who swapped machines on me at the 7th green and left me with not enough fuel to get back back to the shed. No fuel guage and as we have 7 gators and they all look the same i got suckered. Anyway he will be raking bunkers with a fork for the next week in penance. LOL. Mitchell
