If you around the brissy area or close enough becareful out on the roads today. the winds are pushing very strong
gust's and are expected to maybe reach 90km an hour.
Nothing like driving a vw in big winds specially the old kombi:jesus

and hence why im not riding into work this morning...

AHAH, yeah, its pretty bad. I went for a drive this morning in my Ls, and was wondering WTF is the car not going straight on the highway, it was kicking in all directions, and i was continually correcting the bastard slightly here and there. And this was in a 98' Laser, just imagine a kombi!

I thought it was something stuffed with the steering and the front wheels, cause it was a new experience for me, having the front wheels slightly having a mind of there own, to a small degree, especially over bridges.

Take care out there guys. I feel sorry for anyone with a caravan these holidays up in QLD, its sure gonna have an affect. Dad was telling me his old stories about his travels around Aust, and how some bridges actually warn to not drive caravans over, or tracks as well.

The other week here in Melb we had wind gusts over 90km/h. My stepdad is a builder and was staying on site in his caravan. In the early hours of the morning a huge tree fell, damaging the side of the van and wrecking the annex brackets. He was so close to being squished! :o

Yep I had the kombi out this morning, and it sure was a handful.

Hmmmm...........drove to Hawthorne this morning using the freeway........It certainly was an experience driving from one lane to the next without turning the wheel.

What type of car were you driving Lester?

Yeah the drive this morning from gold coast to willowbank was an interesting one in the beetle. I know Craig (VWMA) had lots of fun in the dual cab hitting the dirt at least once after a big gust :o

Saturday morning during those winds I had to drive to the Jamboree at Willowbank to watch some of the VW guys strut their thing.

This meant highway speeds and open road from where I live all the way to the track. I was not looking forward to it.

Even though I kept my speed to 90k's, the Kombi refused to drive straight. Then coming onto the Warwick highway, a gale force gust took me and the Kombi for some unplanned gravel trekking at just under 100k's. Pretty spooky.

I made it, but under any other circumstances, the Kombi would have stayed in the shed.

The drags also proved interesting. Have a chat to Neil Penboss about using a shoot at the end of the 1/4!

Indeed - I don't think the guy in the red rotary (on saturday arvo) that ran 8.89 enjoyed the wind at the end of his run. Coming unstuck at 205km/h and rolling after the shoot deployed wouldn't be fun!
