theres one available in Sydney but you need lots of money

Also you had better mooved to an Island on a fresh water lake as they hate the salt water

I breifly looked into building a replica from fibreglass. that would be the go for avoiding rust. be very complicated though, you'd need to sell a couple to get ya money back.

I wonder how much effort would be needed to get a manx to float. The front and rear guards on the manx were styled off the Schwimmer. Just need to seal in the rear engine bay. :P

G'day,
here's an idea, cut the body of a T3 Syncro shorten to suit and stick a Manx body on it, enclose the engine compartment and HEY!!! "SWIMMER".
Cheers Ian.

So a fresh water schwimmer is the go. Do they have the brakes in the wheels like normal or nearer the diff or diffs. Like the idea of using a synchro however could whack in an subie 4 wheel drive setup running backwards on reduction boxes to get it going forwards. Think where are onto something here.
cheers tom

vw54 ·

Why dont you just get a 15 foot alloy run about n sit it on top of the Subie running gear

BiX ·

I think there are alternatives, thought may not be VW. I think a guys makes them for the southern bay islands up here, like russel etc.

I've seen one of these - awesome vehicle

...just don't start the engine in your workshop/garage before you ensure that everything that can fly around is securely tied down....its like a motorised cyclone inside a building once its running! :duh
